As a Paramedic in a hospital setting, you will deliver Advanced Life Support (ALS) care while working under the direction of a nurse and/or physician. This role plays a vital part in providing high-quality, compassionate care that supports positive patient and family experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care in a hospital setting under the direction of a nurse or physician
  • Monitor vital signs, recognize changes, and communicate with the care team
  • Complete accurate and timely patient documentation
  • Assist with patient triage, stabilization, and transport
  • Maintain and stock emergency equipment; ensure readiness at all times
  • Respond to in-hospital emergencies and rapid response calls
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and hospital protocols while delivering excellent patient service

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • Successful completion of EMS Paramedic training from an approved training course is required
  • PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition & Stabilization) course is preferred
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) is preferred; TNCC is required for the Des Moines Market within 1 year of hire

Experience:

  • Previous EMS experience is preferred

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Required upon hire:
  • Emergency Medical Tech- Paramedic (in state(s) where providing care)
  • Required within 60 days of hire:
  • Certified Basic Life Support
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Pediatric Cardiac Life Support
  • Required within 90 days of hire:
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention Training
  • Management of Aggressive Behavior Training
  • Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (in state(s) where providing care)
  • Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (in state(s) where providing care)
  • Preferred:
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
  • Must have a minimum of two years driving experience with no record of DUI, DWI, or similar alcohol or drug related offenses over the past five years
  • No record of reckless driving, careless driving, speeding over 15 miles above the speed limit, fleeing or eluding a police officer, chemical test refusal, leaving the scene of an accident, driving after revocation or suspension, or passing a stopped school bus in the last five years
  • Certified Paramedic through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
  • Prehospital Trauma Life Support
