Role Summary: Reporting to the Location/Territory Manager, the Crib Attendant/Route Driver is dually responsible for managing the inventory maintenance at customer sites as well as Route Driver responsibilities. This position will provide on-site support of customers' managed inventory at various account locations in partnership with the Account Manager. The Route Driver is responsible for driving and operating a Delivery van and Straight truck (Box Truck) moving and hauling cargo between customer locations. When Route Drivers are not needed for delivery, they will assist with various job duties within the warehouse or location. In both roles, you will be the face of our company, providing exceptional customer service and building strong relationships with our customers.

Exciting work you will do:

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Crib Attendant / Route Driver position will consist of, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain and monitor inventory usage at participating customer accounts, create inventory orders while on site, and make suggestions for changing reorder points
  • Make deliveries using a company-owned vehicle to customer sites and stock orders
  • Maintain constant communication with Account Managers and Territory Manager; keeping them up to date on the status of VMI accounts, projects and problems
  • Responsible for VMI agreement compliance, (ensuring onsite inventory is accurate, reporting requirements and customer day to day needs are being met, and efficient coordination of Kendall Electric support (i.e. deliveries, billings, product alignment, etc.))
  • Organize onsite VMI projects including:
    • Physical movement of inventory
    • Shelf set-up
    • Data collection
    • Coordination of the part number cross reference process
    • Loading parts numbers, min max levels & locations into Eclipse
    • Labeling of bins and shelves
  • Keep on-site managed inventory areas clean and uncluttered
  • Watch closely for new business opportunities
    • Items supplied by someone else, examples wire and conduit
    • The conversion of items, examples Square D to A-B
  • Respect the unique safety standards at various plants
  • Create positive relationships with customers
  • Truck loading and unloading according to established procedures
  • Actively engage in reviewing and optimizing delivery routes to ensure efficiency and timely delivery, leveraging data analysis and feedback to continuously improve route performance
  • Responsible for daily shipping manifest
  • Perform warehouse duties and operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, etc.
  • Maintain the delivery vehicle in excellent condition, ensuring it is clean, well-maintained, and regularly inspected for any mechanical issues Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures
  • Safely operate additional warehouse equipment

What you'll need:
  • Work Experience: Entry Level
  • Education: High school diploma or GED, or commensurate experience
  • Licenses/Certifications: The below licenses will need to be obtained upon hire:
    • Driver's License with appropriate state licensing and clean driving record
    • Must be able to pass a DOT Medical Exam and obtain a 1- Year Card (Paid for by The Kendall Group
  • Analytics/Computer Skills: Ability to use standard office equipment, proficient with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.); strong analytical skills
  • Organization Skills: Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Cross-functional skills: Ability to work effectively with the sales teams; strong customer orientation; ability to work with limited supervision
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization

Qualifications we prefer but don't require:

  • Work Experience: 1-year Industrial wholesale distribution; local delivery driving; inventory management skills; forklift experience
