The Senior Director of Asset Management is accountable for the strategic oversight and operational performance of a nationwide real estate portfolio, with direct leadership responsibility over a team of asset managers. This role ensures assets are managed to maximize value and minimize risk and aligns asset management activities with the company's financial and operational objectives. The Senior Director will actively mentor asset managers, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and oversee third-party service providers to deliver best-in-class property performance and occupant satisfaction.

If you are located in Minneapolis, MN, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, coach, and develop a team of asset managers, setting clear goals and expectations while fostering a high-performance culture
    • Oversee workload distribution and professional development, ensuring the team is equipped to execute asset strategies effectively
  • Asset Management
    • Develop and guide asset strategies to optimize portfolio performance, including recommendations for acquisitions, dispositions, and repositioning, leveraging the expertise of the asset management team
    • Partner with Finance to prepare and update the capital plan and ensure compliance with the Capital Appropriation Request process
    • Monitor and report on financial performance of assets, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, and evaluate asset performance against industry standards and internal benchmarks
    • Lead strategic planning for upcoming lease negotiations, renewals, and occupancy strategies, coordinating efforts across the team
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align asset management initiatives with broader organizational goals
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for high-level portfolio matters, representing the asset management team in executive discussions
  • Operational Excellence
    • Ensure best practices in property operations and occupant satisfaction are maintained across all managed assets
    • Oversee third-party service providers, setting performance expectations and driving continuous improvement

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive commercial/corporate real estate experience in asset and property management
  • 5+ years management experience
  • Proven track record of managing complex real estate portfolios across multiple asset types (e.g., office, industrial, retail)
  • Proven financial acumen and experience with real estate financial modeling and performance metrics
  • Proven leadership, communication, and negotiation skills

  • Proven strategic thinker with a hands-on approach
  • Proven solid interpersonal skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $159,300 to $273,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
