| Job Description |
ECU Department of Biology is seeking several Front Desk Receptionists.
This position is located in the Life Science and Biotechnology Building.
The students will be expected to perform a wide range of office duties, including but not limited to:
- Greet visitors warmly, respectfully, and courteously (faculty, staff, students, guests, business officials, technicians, and community)
- Answer phones in a professional manner
- Keep the reception area and student worker office tidy and organized
- Perform frequent high-volume copy jobs where accuracy is essential, on the job training is provided
- Run errands to adjacent offices/buildings (Bate, Flanagan, Old Cafeteria Complex, Sci&Tech, Spilman, Wright, etc.).
- Receive Mail and Packages:
- Accept packages from delivery services (FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc.) in LSBB
- Document incoming packages and contact recipients
- Relocate cold/sensitive/frozen packages to the designated freezer
- Checking for mail and package deliveries in Howell SC
- Notify FedEx, UPS of packages that need to be shipped; take USPS outgoing packages to the on-campus Mail Services building
- Must be familiar with Excel spreadsheets
- Interact with Copiserv for various tasks and work orders
- Shredding items in bulk
- Perform an inventory of office supplies and other items related to the department
- Create social media posts for upcoming events
- Maintain a positive and helpful attitude and dress appropriately
- Perform occasional physical tasks such as carrying boxes, pushing carts
- Assisting with occasional departmental events prep, set up and break down
- Assist faculty, staff, and students with tasks, directions, and questions

This position requires our ideal candidate to have good communication skills (verbal and written), to communicate with faculty, staff, and students.
- Preferred applicants NOT be BIOLOGY majors to avoid conflict of interest. Every applicant, regardless of major, will be considered.
- Computer Skills required (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Punctuality and attendance. Abuse of this policy will result in termination or reduced hours.

- Preferred valid NC Driver's License.
