The Senior Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of real-time embedded vehicle systems software in support of aerospace programs. This role focuses on operational flight software within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The engineer will contribute to requirements development, software design, coding, reviews, integration, and testing while ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with program standards. Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to evolving project needs are essential. Job Responsibilities
Design, develop, and integrate real-time embedded software for vehicle systems
Develop, analyze, test, and debug operational flight programs
Contribute to software requirements definition and system design activities
Perform code development, peer reviews, and validation testing
Integrate software components within embedded system environments
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and performance issues
Analyze system capabilities to clarify software intent, input and output requirements, programming techniques, and control logic
Prepare technical documentation and support compilation of required program artifacts
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support system integration and testing
Present technical information clearly to stakeholders as needed
Job Requirements
Active Secret security clearance required; Top Secret clearance preferred
Bachelor degree in a STEM field
Minimum of 9 years of experience for Level 3 or 16 years of experience for Level 4
At least 7 years of recent hands-on experience programming in C, including new development and rework of existing software
At least 3 years of recent experience using Python
Experience developing software for real-time embedded systems
Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
Work Experience
9+ years of professional experience required for Level 3
16+ years of professional experience required for Level 4
Recent experience in embedded systems software development within aerospace or similarly regulated environments preferred
