What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking a Project Architect to join our Building and Places Business Group in New York City, NY!

This role follows requiring regular attendance at our NYC office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and exposure to a wide variety of public and private sector projects, including but not limited to K-12, rail & transit, infrastructure projects and public works.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead a team of inspectors in the inspection of real property for various condition assessment projects and clients.
  • Communicate with clients, consultants, and vendors, to ensure coordination of condition assessment project requirements and collaborate as necessary.
  • Responsible for training new inspectors in project specific inspection methodology and coordinating technical aspects of the inspection project.
  • Perform assessments of real property including but not limited to building exterior and interiors, and site elements.
  • Keep Project Manager and Principals informed of progress, issues and/or need for assistance.
  • Follow corporate and/or client standards for project production and review.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments and manage time effectively to meet project deliverables.
  • Develop training presentations, and training documents associated with the inspection project.
  • Experience with large condition assessment projects is a must.
  • Traveling may be necessary on a limited basis.
Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

Bachelor's degree in Architecture is required

  • New York registered Architect is a requirement for this role
  • 5-10 years or more years of experience in building condition assessment.
  • Experience with public sector projects.
  • Experience working on projects for transportation sector or School Construction Authority is a plus.
  • Detailed knowledge of current International Building Codes, NFPA, ADA, LEED, and knowledge of related standards such as ANSI, ASTM, ASHRAE etc.is a plus.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of data and use of databases is a plus.
  • Must be able to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists.
  • Ability to travel (limited) to perform condition assessment
  • Experience with data collection software is a plus.
  • New York City School Construction or New York City Housing Authority condition assessments a plus.

Compensation:

The range for this position is salary range is $100,000 - $125,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
