Position Highlights

The Department of Psychology at the University of Arizona invites applications for a tenure-track Psychological Clinical Scientist at the Associate Professor rank. We seek a colleague whose research and teaching will expand our strengths in health psychology, clinical neuroscience/neuropsychology, psychopathology, and/or intervention science.

We are particularly interested in recruiting a colleague working in the areas of health and health disparities, risk and resilience factors in mental and brain health, brain-body pathways in chronic disease, and/or the development of next generation, scalable assessment or intervention tools.

Clinical scientists who emphasize community-based research and open science practices are strongly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will benefit from the department's existing strengths in health psychology, neuropsychology/cognitive neuroscience, and social psychology, and from interdisciplinary connections, including Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, the Data Science Institute, the Sarver Heart Center, the BIO5 Institute, the UA Cancer Center, the College of Medicine, and the College of Public Health.

Duties & Responsibilities

The candidate will be expected to:

  • Build and sustain an externally funded, nationally recognized research program.
  • Provide effective instruction at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Contribute to the mission of our Ph.D. Clinical Program, which adheres to a clinical science training model and is jointly-accredited by both the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS) and the American Psychological Association's Commission on Accreditation (CoA).
  • The candidate also may provide clinical supervision to graduate students, although this is not required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • The applicant is required to have a Ph.D. in psychology, clinical psychology, or another directly relevant field by the start of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior funding record, teaching experience, and/or mentoring experience.
