Job Description

Funded by a $752,096 annual grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the University of Missouri-Columbia's TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) Program serves 670 eligible undergraduate participants each year. Designed to support first-generation, low-income, and/or students with documented disabilities achieve academic success, MU's TRiO SSS Program offers holistic services aimed at supporting participants in making a successful transition into MU and in strategically using their time at MU to advance their academic, career, and personal goals.

Duties:

  • Manage all aspects of MU TRiO SSS tutoring:
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise a pool of academic tutors - primarily undergraduate students.
  • Coordinate tutoring schedules and promptly respond to tutoring requests.
  • Track and monitor academic progress, flags, and other indicators of student need and intervene with academic support services.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential electronic records of every student interaction with TRiO tutoring services, including in-person, phone, and online visits.
  • Collaborate with and serve as the liaison between the TRiO Student Support Services Program and tutor support vendors.
  • Provide direct tutoring in particular areas of expertise, as needed.
  • Serve on appropriate committees and represent TRiO at events, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Shift

8am - 5pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a participant in a pre-college or college TRiO Project
  • Prior experience working for a TRiO Project or other program offering academic support to first-generation college students, students from low-income backgrounds, and/or students with disabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to and the desire to work with first-generation college students, students from low-income backgrounds, and/or students with disabilities
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a field where there is high need for tutoring like math, statistics, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, or engineering.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $52,915.20 - $74,484.80 per year, commensurate with education and experience
