TITLE

Manager of Strategic Initiatives & Operations

JOB SUMMARY

The Manager of Strategic Initiatives & Operations supports enrollment-related initiatives through hands-on project management, data analysis, and operational coordination. This role is responsible for executing assigned special projects by translating enrollment priorities into defined tasks, timelines, and performance measures, and by monitoring progress to ensure timely completion. The Manager applies data and process analysis to identify operational gaps, improve efficiency, and provide practical insights to support leadership decision-making. Working collaboratively across the Enrollment Division and with University partners, the position ensures initiatives are implemented consistently and aligned with established goals and operational standards. Work is performed under general direction and performance is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Senior Manager Finance & Operations

Supervises: May supervise other staff members and student assistants

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

  • Supports the execution of enrollment-related strategic initiatives by translating assigned priorities into operational plans, timelines, and measurable deliverables.

  • Manages day-to-day coordination of strategic initiatives and special projects, ensuring tasks, dependencies, and timelines are clearly defined and tracked.

  • Conducts data analysis, performance monitoring, and basic gap analysis to assess operational effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

  • Works with departments to implement data-driven, trackable key performance indicators (KPIs) and supports the maintenance of reporting tools.

  • Prepares operational reports, summaries, and dashboards that provide visibility into progress, performance, and risks for leadership review.

  • Coordinates cross-functional work by clarifying responsibilities, monitoring task completion, and supporting follow-through on assigned initiatives.

  • Tracks initiative milestones, deliverables, and deadlines; identifies issues early and escalates concerns to leadership as appropriate.

  • Assists with workflow documentation and process improvement efforts to improve efficiency, consistency, and clarity of enrollment-related operations.

  • Translates data and operational findings into clear summaries, insights, and recommendations to support leadership decision-making.

  • Supports responsible resource use by helping align staff effort, tools, and priorities with assigned initiatives.

  • Promotes accountability, transparency, and collaboration across departments by reinforcing expectations and supporting timely completion of work.

  • Represents the Enrollment Division on committees, workgroups, or project teams as assigned.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree required in business, public administration, higher education administration, data analytics, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of three (3) years professional experience in strategic initiatives, operational planning, project management, enrollment-related functions, or a comparable operational role. Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-functional initiatives, tracking deliverables, and supporting execution of process or operational changes using data and reporting tools. Experience in higher education preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position. All employees share the responsibility of maintaining information security and privacy requirements within the university by adhering to Federal and State regulations, and TWU Policies & Procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - The following are essential:

  • Knowledge of data analysis, performance measurement, and reporting concepts, including the use of dashboards and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI or similar).
    Ability to identify patterns, trends, and operational risks within data and day-to-day processes.
    Skill in supporting the development and tracking of KPIs tied to operational efficiency and initiative outcomes.
    Ability to analyze workflows, document processes, and identify opportunities for improvement.
    Skill in project coordination, including tracking timelines, managing deliverables, and supporting cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to work independently on assigned initiatives while maintaining alignment with leadership direction and priorities.

  • Skill in written and verbal communication, with the ability to present data, progress updates, and recommendations clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives, manage competing deadlines, and exercise sound judgment within defined parameters.

  • Knowledge of standard office software and reporting tools used for analysis, documentation, and operational coordination.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and institutional partners.

  • Skill in maintaining a service-oriented, solutions-focused approach while reinforcing accountability and follow-through.
