About This Role

TechSource is seeking a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to support nuclear surety and certification activities for U.S. Air Force nuclear weapon systems. In this role, you will provide engineering expertise and program management support to Air Force Nuclear Weapons Surety programs across nuclear sustainment and acquisition systems.

You will work with government stakeholders, engineering teams, and technical subject matter experts to ensure nuclear certification requirements are met in accordance with applicable Department of Defense and Air Force directives. This includes reviewing and coordinating nuclear certification documentation, supporting nuclear surety evaluations, and assisting in the development of certification packages for tactical and strategic aircraft and missile systems.

This position supports critical national security programs that ensure nuclear weapon systems meet the highest safety, reliability, and operational standards.



  • This is an onsite role at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
  • Candidates must hold an active Secret clearance with the ability to upgrade to Top Secret if required.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide engineering and nuclear surety subject matter expertise in support of Air Force nuclear weapons certification programs
  • Support program management activities for nuclear sustainment and acquisition programs and systems
  • Review, analyze, and coordinate nuclear certification documentation, including Certification Requirements Plans (CRPs) and Nuclear Surety Evaluations (NSEs)
  • Assist in the development and review of nuclear certification packages for tactical and strategic aircraft systems and strategic missile systems
  • Ensure engineering documentation and certification activities comply with applicable Department of Defense and Air Force nuclear surety directives
  • Support updates to nuclear surety policies and guidance, particularly related to emerging technologies and evolving weapon system architectures
  • Coordinate technical efforts among engineers, technical writers, and technical support staff to produce compliant certification documentation
  • Collaborate with government program offices, safety organizations, and technical teams to support nuclear certification and surety requirements

Required Qualifications


  • An active Secret clearance with the ability to upgrade to Top Secret if required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • Experience supporting defense, nuclear, or aerospace programs
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, certification processes, or safety program management
  • Ability to review and interpret technical documentation, engineering analyses, and certification requirements
  • Strong coordination and communication skills working across multidisciplinary teams
  • Active Secret clearance required with ability to obtain Top Secret clearance


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience supporting nuclear weapons surety, nuclear certification, or nuclear safety programs
  • Familiarity with Air Force nuclear surety directives and certification processes
  • Experience supporting strategic missile systems, aircraft systems, or nuclear sustainment programs
  • Experience coordinating technical documentation, policy updates, or certification packages
