Genesis10 is seeking an Application Developer for a contract position with a financial services client located in New York, NY. This is a hybrid position and requires 2 days minimum onsite with Wednesday being one of the days. Summary: Seeking an Application Developer to help modernize and evolve the firm's legacy Solaris/Informix financial systems into a modern, cloud native architecture. The role focuses on building scalable, event driven Java microservices on Kubernetes/OpenShift and contributing to the transformation of critical investment management workflows. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering fundamentals, a solid understanding of distributed systems design, and experience applying modern development practices. Success in this role requires close collaboration with both business and technology partners to deliver resilient, high quality capabilities that support the firm's investment platform. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop scalable, secure Java microservices that form the foundation of the firm's next generation investment management platform. Contribute to the migration of legacy Solaris/Informix systems by implementing API layers, data access components, and integration services running on Kubernetes/OpenShift Build and maintain distributed applications that meet stringent performance, reliability, and resilience requirements, ensuring consistent behavior across diverse workloads and environments. Collaborate closely with business and technology partners to deliver capabilities that streamline and modernize core investment management workflows. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Experience with delivering enterprise grade software applications. Experience with Java and hands on microservices development using Quarkus or Spring Boot. Experience with deploying and operating distributed systems on Kubernetes or OpenShift. Experience with Domain Driven Design and event driven or service oriented architecture patterns. Experience with Apache Kafka, including event modeling, partitions, consumer groups, offset management, and delivery semantics (at least once, at most once, exactly once, idempotency). Experience with designing and operating gRPC, REST APIs , including resilient clientside behavior such as timeouts, retries, and circuitbreaker patterns. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server/PostgreSQL schema design and optimization. Experience with investment management fundamentals, associated workflows and data. Experience with AI assisted development, Git, and Linux/Unix command line environments. Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Solaris/Informix platforms. Experience with the broader Kafka ecosystem, including Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and deadletter processing patterns. Experience with portfolio accounting concepts, related workflows, and associated data. Experience with IBM Informix, Azure DevOps, Python, and modern frontend JavaScript frameworks. Experience with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake. Experience with Agile methodologies.
