Staff Software Engineer (Datagrid)

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join Procore's AI Division. In this role, you'll define the technical direction of our agentic systems and lead the development of AI-driven solutions that automate construction workflows at scale. The primary goal of this role is to architect and drive the delivery of reliable, scalable agentic platforms that set the foundation for Procore's AI strategy.

As a Staff Software Engineer , you'll partner with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership to shape the technical roadmap for agentic automation. Use your TypeScript, Python and distributed systems expertise to drive high-impact architectural decisions and raise the technical bar across the team. You'll influence how thousands of construction teams work-apply today.

This position reports into an Engineering Manager and will be based in our San Francisco offices. We're looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you'll do:

  • Define and drive the technical architecture of Procore's agentic systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

  • Lead cross-team technical initiatives that align engineering efforts across the AI Division.

  • Partner with Product and Design to translate strategic priorities into concrete technical plans and delivery milestones.

  • Mentor and grow engineers across the team, elevating code quality and engineering practices.

  • Establish standards for developing, testing, and operating LLM-powered systems in production.

  • Identify and mitigate technical risks in agentic systems before they impact customers.

  • Stay ahead of the field in agentic AI and LLM tooling, bringing relevant advancements into Procore's platform strategy.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7-10 years of experience in software development.

  • Deep proficiency in TypeScript and Python.

  • Proven track record of architecting and delivering LLM applications or agentic systems at production scale.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical direction and influence outcomes across teams without direct authority.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to align engineers, product managers, and leadership around a technical vision.

  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team growth.

  • Genuine passion for agentic AI and its potential to transform how industries operate.

Additional Information

Base Pay Range:

193,844.00 - 266,535.50 USD Annual

This role may also be eligible for Equity Compensation and/or Bonus Incentive Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate's job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location.
