The Cath Lab Imaging Coordinator provides support for the Cath and EP Lab. The Cath Lab Imaging Coordinator serves as both a high-level clinical expert during procedures and a primary coordinator for the lab's daily technical activities. Essential Duties:
- Organizes, plans and directs activities relating to patients and procedures for their designated area when assigned to do so by the MD's.
- Demonstrates complete working knowledge of all specialty equipment within the department (i.e., monitoring, filming, and digital equipment).
- Facilitates routine PMs and follow-up of Biomed and Help Desk tickets for the lab.
- Prepares and positions patient for special procedure; obtains supplies, sets up procedure trays. Demonstrates correct and adequate anatomic positioning skills.
- Adjusts technical factors in proportion to patient age and body part being examined while minimizing radiation.
- Assists in training and guidance of technologist in Cath and EP Lab departments in a positive manner.
- Confirms patient identification by checking name and birthdate.
- Reviews doctor's order and requisition for physician notes and/or special instructions, reviews with physician and patient if necessary, to assure safety and appropriateness.
- Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code and properly administer aid as needed.
- Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self according to prescribed safety standards.
- Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination to patient and instruments.
- Records pertinent patient information and completes all paperwork as required and assists in maintaining files. Performs billing functions timely and accurately.
- Prepares examination for interpretation by physician.
- Keeps special procedure rooms/work stations neat, orderly, and prepared and assures exam room is stocked with appropriate supplies. Assists with ordering and stocking of department supplies and equipment.
- Required to participate in after hours uncontrolled standby and call back.
- Willingly performs other related duties, task or project outside immediate work area as assigned or required (i.e., scheduling, transport, clerical) by the Nurse Manager, Supervisor, and Department Director.
- Assist in maintaining an atmosphere of cooperation with other departments, medical staff and fellow employees.
- Keeps track of Inventory Management (Trackcore).
- Regularly scrubs in, circulates, and monitors all invasive cardiovascular procedures, including diagnostic caths, percutaneous coronary intervention, structural heart, and electrophysiology (EP) studies.
- Assists with quality improvement initiatives, ensuring the lab adheres to safety standards (e.g., JCAHO), radiation protection protocols (i.e. Radimetrics Checks (Dose Management Software Solution), Lead Apron Checks).
- Assists with room assignments and scheduling, and aide in the orientation and training of new Cath Lab Techs and Coordinators.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Req High School or equivalent
- Req Specialized/technical training Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
- Req 5 years Radiologic Technologist in a Cath Lab.
- Req 2 years Experience as a Radiologic Technologist, previous angiography or cardiac cath experience required.
- Req Committed to excellence in patient care and customer service.
- Req Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Req Organization/time management skills.
- Req Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pref Bachelor's Degree
- Pref 2 years Radiologic Technologist in an EP Lab
- Pref Advanced ARRT RCIS: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist. ARRT (R): Registered Radiologic Technologist. CI/VI: Cardiac or Vascular Interventional Radiography.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Certified Radiologic Technologist (CA DPH)
- Req Registered Technologist - R.T. (ARRT)
- Req Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit (CA DPH)
- Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
- Req Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
The hourly rate range for this position is 45.00 - $76.50.
