A Day In The Life The Sr. Contracts Manager, under the leadership of the Director, Senior Counsel, is a key role in the GST legal department and is responsible for primarily supporting the Director, Senior Counsel as well as the other members of the GST legal department. This position leads complex contract drafting, negotiation, and management efforts, with a strong focus on IT, AI, and marketing agency agreements, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and organizational standards. This is a highly visible role and will be a "go to" liaison for GST VPs and Directors. The Sr. Contracts Manager drives process improvement and standardization initiatives, supports data privacy and governance efforts, oversees AI tool due diligence, and provides guidance on advertising compliance and review of regional marketing materials. The role requires drafting, efficient negotiation and review of various legal documents such as contracts, releases and sweepstakes rules in support of both the legal department as well as developing a collaborative and supportive partnership with the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, IT, and Marketing departments. The Sr Contracts Manager role also requires presentation of polished and informative training sessions regarding various industry laws and best practices. As a Senior Contracts Manager you will:
- Lead contract negotiations with guidance of Senior Counsel.
- Lead process and project management improvement initiatives.
- Draft and proofread legal documents.
- Contract management and contract management improvement initiatives.
- Provide engaging training sessions regarding compliance and industry best practices.
- Perform daily legal review of advertising and marketing materials and initiatives to ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform legal and/or factual research and investigations as needed.
- Partner with members of the Legal, Marketing, Sourcing and IT departments on various projects, which include data privacy initiatives and contracting best practices and processes.
- Act as administrator and liaison for matter management software, which includes running and customizing reports and troubleshooting problems, as well as recommending and implementing process improvements.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and draft regulatory inquiry responses as needed.
- Maintain positive relations for the GST Legal department with all Friedkin affiliated companies, associates, outside counsel business partners and the public.
- Initiate legal review process improvement and innovation initiatives.
- Litigation support: compile evidence; draft discovery and subpoena responses; draft affidavits; perform various litigation planning activities such as deposition preparation or trial preparation. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain and improve upon various record keeping, legal file and database practices.
- Provide support to legal department and business clients for unique tasks such as review of press releases.
- Draft and present training courses with the legal department for business clients on various topics including advertising compliance and contract guidelines.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities, however, the role may occasionally require supervision of temporary associates or administrative personnel.
- Use and implementation of AI technology such as automated contract review software to streamline and improve contracting processes.
What We Need From You
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university Req
- 7-9 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Required
- Manager or Paralegal experience in a large law firm and in-house legal or sourcing or procurement department highly desirable.
