The Print Center Specialist is responsible for preparing customer supplied artwork and digital files for print production. This role ensures all files meet technical printing requirements, including proper formatting, color management, imposition, proofing, and quality control. This role will help support the print needs of all US and Canadian business units and be responsible for ensuring high-quality and timely production ranging from routine transactional production to sales promotions and special orders. This role will also be involved in projects to modernize methods, procedures, and systems for production.

This position will work closely with the Print center Manager and the Print Center supervisor to implement workflow improvements and replacements of pre-press software to ensure the Print & Mail Center operations align with standard practices across the industry.

This role is not remote/hybrid and will report to our Cleveland, OH Hinckley Parkway office location.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Strategy & Planning

  • Coordinate between production, distribution, and fulfillment teams as needed to review, inspect, and preflight customer files for print readiness.
  • Correct issues with fonts, layout, resolution, bleed, and color profiles.
  • Convert files to required print formats including PDF/X, CMYK, and spot colors.
  • Troubleshoot problematic files and communicate changes as needed.

File Preparation & Troubleshooting

  • Review, inspect, and preflight customer files for print readiness.
  • Correct issues with fonts, layout, resolution, bleed, and color profiles.
  • Convert files to required print formats including PDF/X, CMYK, and spot colors.
  • Troubleshoot problematic files and communicate changes as needed.

Color Management

  • Prepare and adjust color settings to ensure accurate print reproduction.
  • Convert and manage color spaces including RGB to CMYK.
  • Maintain shop color profiles.

Imposition & Layout

  • Create impositions for printed materials such as books, brochures, and signage.
  • Ensure proper page order, margins, gutters, and marks.

Proofing

  • Generate digital or hard-copy proofs for customer approval.
  • Review proofs for accuracy and quality before production.

Workflow & Production Coordination

  • Prepare and send finalized files to RIPs, plate setters, or digital presses.
  • Coordinate with press operators to ensure file accuracy and compatibility.
  • Maintain organized job records and meet production schedules.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 4+ years industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of digital and offset printing processes.
  • Prior print production experience.
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and PDF workflows.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of common software and programs used in printing and production.
  • Familiarity with web-to-print solutions.
  • Expertise in print production processes, digital printing, high-speed inkjet, and large format printing.
  • Working knowledge of pre-press file preparation, color management, and proofing.
  • Thorough understanding of paper stocks, substrates, coatings, and other materials.
  • M365 experience.

Preferred

  • Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • RIP software such as Fiery, Prinergy, or Rampage.
  • Imposition tools like Preps or Impostrip.
  • Basic Adobe Creative Suite knowledge or other design software experience.
