Summary: The Electrical Training Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive electrical training programs that support safe, reliable, and compliant oil and gas operations. This role serves as the subject matter expert for electrical systems, electrical safety, and licensing requirements, ensuring the workforce is trained to applicable codes, standards, and company expectations.

Department: Operations Training & Development

Summary: The Electrical Training Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive electrical training programs that support safe, reliable, and compliant oil and gas operations. This role serves as the subject matter expert for electrical systems, electrical safety, and licensing requirements, ensuring the workforce is trained to applicable codes, standards, and company expectations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to:

  • The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, selfdriven professional with extensive field experience in oil and gas electrical systems, including highvoltage distribution and secondary systems. This individual will proactively identify training gaps, develop handson and computerbased learning solutions, and partner closely with Operations, I&E, Safety, and Leadership to elevate electrical competency across the organization.
  • Design, develop, and deliver instructorled electrical training programs focused on oil and gas operations, including classroom and handson field instruction.
  • Create structured electrical troubleshooting curricula that reflect realworld operational scenarios and equipment found in oil and gas facilities.
  • Lead inperson electrical training courses at field locations, training facilities, and operational hubs.
  • Ensure all training content aligns with the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA requirements, company standards, and industry best practices.
  • Continuously review and update training materials to reflect code changes, operational learnings, and emerging electrical risks.
  • Develop and maintain an Oil & Gas Electrical Troubleshooting Course, including (but not limited to) the following example modules:
    • HighVoltage Power Distribution Troubleshooting
    • Secondary Power Systems Diagnostics
    • Motor and Motor Control Circuit Troubleshooting
    • Grounding and Bonding Failures in Oil & Gas Facilities
    • Electrical Fault Isolation Techniques
    • Instrumentation Power and Control Circuit Issues
    • Generator and Backup Power System Troubleshooting
    • SCADA and Control Power Issues Impacting Operations
    • Hazardous Area Electrical Failures (Class I, Divisions)
    • Systematic Electrical Troubleshooting Using Drawings, Schematics, and OneLine Diagrams
    • ComputerBased Training (CBT) & Digital Learning
    • Electrical Safety & PPE Program Management
    • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of (5) years of oil and gas electrical experience
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Able to satisfy insurability standards to drive a company vehicle
  • Texas Journeyman or Master Electrician License (active and in good standing)
  • Demonstrated experience with highvoltage (highline) power systems and secondary electrical systems
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Proven background in electrical safety, hazard mitigation, and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical onelines, schematics, and construction drawings
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to instruct and influence personnel at all levels

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified NFPA 70E Trainer
  • Prior experience developing formal training curricula or CBT content
  • Experience instructing adult learners in technical or industrial environments

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to travel to field locations and training sites
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to weather, noise, and energized equipment (following safety protocols)
  • Ability to conduct handson demonstrations and training activities
