Summary: Responsible for direction and oversight of the operations and leadership of the sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions: -Oversee the daily operations of the Central Sterile department, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation. -Develop and implement sterilization processes and protocols to ensure the safe and effective decontamination, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments. -Supervise and guide a team of sterile processing technicians. -Manage the procurement, maintenance, and repair of sterilization equipment, ensuring compliance with manufacturer recommendations and regulatory requirements. -Implement quality control measures and perform regular audits to ensure compliance with sterile processing standards. -Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as relevant accreditation bodies (e.g., The Joint Commission). Education: Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of Education requirements? No Licenses/Certifications: Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) preferred Experience: Surgical Experience 8-10+ years preferred and Supervisory Experience 5-7 years preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Advanced knowledge of aseptic technique principles. Extensive knowledge of methods of cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization. Extensive knowledge of the operation and troubleshooting of all equipment used in reprocessing. Understanding of the principles and commitment to all standards of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens standard. Knowledge of and ability to use Windows-based applications such as database, spreadsheet, word processing, and materials management software.
