Position Summary
The Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a rapidly expanding, internationally recognized program in advanced robotic surgery. This fellowship will focus on tele-robotic surgery and augmented reality-enhanced robotic imaging.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct and support research in tele-robotic surgical systems and augmented reality-guided robotic imaging.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, engineers, and technology developers.
  • Design, execute, and analyze research studies related to robotic surgical technologies.
  • Contribute to peer-reviewed publications, grant development, and scientific presentations.
  • Participate in the advancement of innovative technologies for remote surgical care in austere environments.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications


    • M.D./D.O and Ph.D. in a related field such as bioengineering, biomedical engineering, robotics, or imaging science.

    • Strong interest in surgical innovation, robotics, and translational research.

    • Ability to commit a minimum of two years to the fellowship.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • M.D. or D.O. degree with completed or partially completed postgraduate training in surgery
    • Prior experience in robotic surgery research, medical imaging, or augmented reality systems.
    • Demonstrated experience with scientific writing and publication.
    • Interest in military or remote medical applications of surgical technology.
