Title: Human Resources Generalist
Reports To: Director of Human Resources
Position Overview:
The Human Resources Generalist supports a positive and compliant workplace by partnering with leadership and employees across a variety of HR functions. This role plays a key part in employee relations, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations, ensuring consistent practices and strong employee experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Employee Relations
- Serve as a key resource for employee relations matters including performance management, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution
- Conduct investigations and provide recommendations aligned with company policy and legal guidelines
- Coach managers on employee relations and risk mitigation
- Support employee engagement and retention initiatives
- Compliance & Regulatory Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Manage DOT compliance and driver qualification files
- Administer random drug and alcohol testing programs
- Oversee Workers' Compensation case management
- Maintain OSHA recordkeeping and support safety compliance
- Ensure EPA compliance as applicable
- Maintain audit-ready records and support audits and inspections
- HR Operations & Generalist Support
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes
- Assist with benefits administration and open enrollment
- Maintain employee records and process HR data changes
- Administer FMLA/LOA processes
- Respond to employee HR-related inquiries
- Partner with leadership on HR guidance and support
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 4+ years of HR experience
- Experience in DOT or safety-sensitive environments preferred
- Knowledge of employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, DOT)
- Experience with Workers' Compensation and drug testing preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- SHRM or PHR certification preferred
