Auria is seeking a a Chief Architect in Colorado Springs, CO to join our Missile Warning & Tracking (MWT) Ground Management Integration program. The Chief Architect is responsible for architecting and leading the development and integration of key deliverables into the broader system. This individual is instrumental in shaping the system architecture and functionality in an agile and flexible environment. This role will work closely with the Program Manager and Chief Engineer, as well as development teams and requires excellent technical, communication, and collaboration skills. Primary work location is Colorado Springs, CO but remote work is possible for the right candidate.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:

Strategic Planning and Vision - Define and drive the software development strategy, ensuring delivery of key
capabilities.
*
Technical Expertise - Provide technical guidance and expertise, staying abreast of the latest technologies and industry best practices.
*
Risk and Performance Management - Identify potential system risks, devise mitigation strategies, and monitor system performance metrics, making adjustments as needed.
*
Mentorship - Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:
*
Current U.S. Government SECRET security clearance (requires U.S. Citizenship)
*
Extensive experience utilizing COTS products to develop major space systems, subsystems, including systems, products, and interfaces across ground and space components.
*
Extensive experience supporting missile warning/missile tracking and satellite ground systems.
*
Experience with other engineering disciplines (systems, hardware, test, configuration management, and quality engineering) and how they interact with software engineering. Familiarity with various programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, C#) and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell). Experience in secure coding practices and code review processes.
*
Demonstrated experience in overseeing the full lifecycle of software development, from conception through deployment and maintenance, and hands-on experience in developing complex software systems, with a track record of successful implementation and deployment.
*
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, and other similar tools, and familiarity with source control systems (e.g., GitLab) and an understanding of branching strategies, commit conventions, and collaborative development best practices.

Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team using tools to assist system development, such as Jira and Confluence.
*
Excellent verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal skills that provide the capability to work independently and within a team.
*
Proficiency with M.S. Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:
*
Strong understanding of database management, including database architecture, design, and implementation.
*
Experience with cloud-based environments such as AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure GCC High, or Google Cloud.
*
Ability to create clear and comprehensive system documentation, including design descriptions, requirements specifications, test plans, user guides, and other engineering documents.
*
Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and methodologies through the implementation of innovative practices and processes for space systems.
*
Holds MBSE certification, which may include SysML Object Management Group (OMG), Model Builder Fundamental (MBF), Model Builder Intermediate (MBI) or Model Builder Advance (MBA) Certification.

Experience performing other engineering disciplines (systems, hardware, test, configuration management, and quality engineering) and interacting with software engineering in that role.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Engineer Level 5: Typically, a Bachelor's degree and 12 or more years of relevant experience, Master's degree with 10 years of experience

Travel: 10% PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $165,000 - $200,000
