Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation & Diagnostics supervisor, supporting TOS II, at AEDC in Arnold AFB, TN. The individual will be working as a member of the Engineering Solutions branch responsible for supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. The Engineering Solutions branch performs cutting edge technology development work in support of the National Defense Strategy.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be highly organized, have effective verbal and written communication skills, be able to work with discretion and confidentiality, proven time management skills, be proactive, and be willing to continually learn new duties and skills.

Job Duties:

    Responsible for management of personnel and workflow for the Instrumentation & Diagnostics (I&D) development section, ensuring development of technical approaches, use of judgment within defined practices and procedures, and making technical decisions, including making preliminary selections and adaptations of technical alternatives, for assigned work.
  • Ensures execution of technology development tasks for custom data acquisition solutions for both intrusive and non-intrusive diagnostics, additive manufacturing, total force accounting, and other technology development projects as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain positive, open relationships with AEDC counterparts and with I&D technology development customers.
  • Champions a work environment which fosters openness, trust, communications, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
  • Determine and monitor the staffing assignments to effectively execute I&D workload.
  • Manage employee performance and delivery of applied technology development activities supporting the Air Force (AF) Analysis and Technology Branch, Test Mission Areas, as well as external customers.
  • Actively participate in the development of employee goals and objectives.
  • Conducts annual performance reviews in accordance with approved BNH procedures and holds career development discussions
  • Conduct strategic planning with principal investigators, subject matter experts, and program managers for the technology budget allocations each year.
  • Review and help develop work instructions and procedures to guide installation, test, operation and maintenance of the developed equipment for aerospace system/ ground / flight test applications.
  • Provide weekly input for discussion with the AF Technology section lead and BNH leadership regarding status of I&D section activities.
  • Administer personnel discipline.
  • Exemplifies the company core value and covenant of safety in all aspects of job including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.
  • Performs other related duties as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Physics, or related scientific discipline from an accredited university with minimum 5 years of progressive work experience in technical environment.
  • Must be able to obtain & maintain security clearance & access to DoD network & computer systems
  • Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of engineering management experience in leading teams and allocating limited resources among competing demands.
  • Experience with development of intrusive and non-intrusive solutions including custom instrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with employees, clients, and customers.
  • Ability and desire to mentor and develop diverse talent
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience leading a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Professional Society involvement (AIAA, etc.)
  • Active Secret Security Clearance
