Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Manager-Contract Management (Supply Chain).

In this role, the successful candidate as the Sr. Manager, Contract Management is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the end-to-end review, negotiation, and management of a broad portfolio of commercial agreements in support of the Supply Chain and Strategic Sourcing functions. This role serves as the primary contracts lead for the Supply Chain organization, partnering closely with Sourcing, business stakeholders, and the Office of General Counsel (OGC) to enable efficient, compliant, and business-oriented contracting.The Sr. Manager will ultimately lead a team of 56 Contract Specialists and will be accountable for building a scalable, standardized contract review function that is deeply integrated into Sourcing workflows. The successful candidate will be an attorney (JD) with substantial experience negotiating diverse commercial agreements, ideally within or in support of a large U.S.-based healthcare system, and will demonstrate a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to risk.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of 56 Contract Specialists, setting clear performance expectations and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop on-boarding plans to help train new Sourcing and contract team members in contract practices.
  • Define and execute the strategic vision for the Supply Chain contract management function, aligning with organizational goals, risk tolerances, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure the Contract Management team is fully integrated and embedded within Sourcing teams to deepen subject-matter knowledge and improve contract cycle times and outcomes.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, and the Office of General Counsel, building confidence and trust in the teams ability to review and negotiate contracts under the NYULH guidelines; reducing the need for escalations to OGC.

Contract Review, Negotiation & Advisory

  • Lead and oversee the review, drafting, and negotiation of a wide range of commercial agreements, including but not limited to product and service agreements, SaaS and technology agreements, professional services agreements, business associate agreements (BAAs), license agreements, equipment leases, and other third-party vendor contracts.
  • Negotiate directly with vendors and vendors legal counsel, balancing the organizations risk posture with business objectives and timetable considerations.
  • Provide clear, practical, and business focused advice to end users and sourcing partners on contractual risks, obligations, and negotiation strategies.
  • Develop and apply a balanced, pragmatic approach to risk, recommending appropriate concessions and fallback positions while protecting the organizations legal and compliance interests.
  • Establish and apply escalation criteria for complex, high impact, or high-risk contracts to the Office of General Counsel.

Policy, Standards & Governance

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve contract review guidelines, playbooks, standard clauses, and fallback positions to drive consistency and efficiency across the contract portfolio.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, IT Security, and other stakeholders to ensure contract templates, terms, and processes reflect current legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Implement governance mechanisms to ensure that standard contracts can be reviewed, negotiated, and executed by the Supply Chain team to minimize escalations to the OGC.
  • Monitor compliance with contract policies, delegation of authority, and approval of workflows; identify and remediate process gaps and risks.

Stakeholder Engagement & Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships with Sourcing leaders, category managers, and operational stakeholders to understand business needs and align contracting strategies accordingly.
  • Educate and advise sourcing and end users on key contract terms, inherent risks, and mitigation strategies; translate legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for nonlegal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Office of General Counsel to align risk thresholds, escalation protocols, and standard positions, reinforcing mutual trust and enabling efficient division of responsibilities.
  • Work with cross functional teams (e.g., Finance, Compliance, IT, Information Security, Risk Management) to ensure contracts appropriately address regulatory, financial, data protection, cybersecurity, and operational requirements.

Process Optimization & Analytics

  • Oversee and optimize the end-to-end contract lifecycle, from intake and triage through negotiation, execution, and renewal/termination, leveraging technology and best practices.
  • Utilize contract lifecycle management (CLM) and other tools to drive visibility into contract status, obligations, key dates, and performance metrics.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cycle time, escalation rates, negotiated value, and compliance metrics, report insights and recommendations to leadership.

Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance the overall contracting experience for internal stakeholders and vendors.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
REQUIRED:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
7-10+ years of experience in commercial contracting, with substantial experience drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements.
Demonstrated experience negotiating directly with vendors and vendors legal representatives.
Proven ability to develop and implement contract review guidelines, playbooks, and standardized approaches to risk and negotiation.
Management experience leading and developing a team (preferably 3+ direct reports) in a contract, legal, or sourcing environment.
Strong understanding of risk allocation, liability frameworks, indemnity, IP, data security, privacy, service levels, and other key commercial terms.
Demonstrated ability to provide balanced, pragmatic legal and risk advice in a fast-paced, business-driven environment.
Excellent communication, persuasion, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence multiple organizational levels.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in a related field
8+ years of experience in Contracting or related field, with minimum 3 years of experience managing a professional team
Experience in Consulting, Financial Services, Healthcare, or Technology industry
Experience with CLM system and reporting tools. An asset if experienced with AI tools for Contract review
Knowledge of IT Infrastructure Products and Services and/or Clinical Products and Services
Proficiency in contracting skills; drafting, redlining, negotiating, contract lifecycle management
Experience in managing complex contract negotiations from start to execution
Experience working with Vendors in direct and indirect models (VARs, wholesalers)
Proven track record as a developer of people; coaching and mentor mindset; promotes quality and applies feedback to improve performance
Critical thinker; analytical, problem-solving, influencer
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High ethics and morals consistent with being a key gatekeeper for sourcing decisions
Effective communicator of changes, builds commitment and overcomes resistance and experienced with working directly with C-level leadership

Preferred Qualifications:
PREFERRED:
Experience working in or with a large U.S.-based healthcare system, academic medical center, or similarly complex, highly regulated environment.
Familiarity with healthcarespecific regulatory and compliance considerations (e.g., HIPAA, Stark/Antikickback, data privacy and security requirements) and their implications for commercial agreements.
Experience collaborating closely with an in-house Office of General Counsel or legal department and operating under delegated authority from Legal.
Experience with contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems and/or document tools.
Prior experience supporting Supply Chain, Procurement, or Strategic Sourcing functions.
