Summary

The Employee Health Coordinator will assist the coordination of patient scheduling in the overall day-to-day functions of the Employee Health Clinic and support the functions of the department including workplace injury, workplace medical, and wellness services. They will collaborate with the hospital's efforts to reduce employee injuries. They will stay knowledgeable with OSHA standards regarding reporting and implementation of worker's compensation laws.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Perform general administrative roles and responsibilities
    • Welcomes patients, visitors and employees into the department, addresses their needs, and/or answers questions, either in person or by answering phone.
    • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and related correspondence
    • Make appointments and maintain schedules
    • Assist visitors with questions or concerns and refer to the appropriate personnel
  • Create and maintain confidential and comprehensive occupational health records adhering to HIPAA guidelines, including maintenance of appropriate technology platforms, tools, and systems, including but not limited to: OSHA reporting, Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MICR), EMR (EPIC).
  • Schedule appointments for Employee Health and/or Occupational Health Clinics.
  • Coordinate the employee injury & worker's compensation follow up process in collaboration with the MFB Employee Health providers.
    • Reviews RL6 report and reports injury to providers and participates in discussions with TPA.
    • Collaborate with the workplace injury TPA to file claims, provide necessary documentation per HIM and HIPAA guidelines, and communicate with appropriate parties as appropriate regarding appointments, attendance and plans of care.
    • Communicate with leaders to relay restrictions and provide updates as ordered by provider(s).
    • Create, update, and maintain the workplace injury files & reporting required such as safety logs
  • Coordinate external worker's compensation program
    • Coordinate external worker's compensation plans of care as outlined by providers.
    • Monitors EPIC orders placed by providers to assure the appropriate referrals are made.
  • Communicate with patients and families/supports to promote participation in the development and execution of the plan of care in workers compensation as delegated by provider(s).
  • Collaborate between Employee Health and Medical Group, Worker's Compensation TPA, and HR to facilitate appropriate programs, employee needs, education, and leave management per the provider's plan of care.
  • May actively participate in Mary Free Bed committees, or other task force meetings as requested.
  • Manage appropriate processes, equipment, and supplies for the Workers Compensation Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Demonstrate excellent customer service and standards of behaviors as well as encourages, coaches, and monitors the same in team members. This individual should consistently promote teamwork and direct communication with co-workers and deal discretely and sensitively with confidential information.

Responsibilities in Quality Improvement

Contribute by identifying problems and seeking solutions. Promote patient/family satisfaction where possible; participates in departmental efforts to monitor and report customer service.

Essential Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or health-related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an employee health setting
  • BLS certification
  • Proficient language and grammar with the ability to compose, edit and proof communication and correspondence
  • Adept with computers in multiple applications (MS Word, Excel, Office Outlook, Adobe, PowerPoint, SharePoint) are essential, familiarity with EMR and basic understanding of clinical tasks helpful
  • Demonstrated organization and problem-solving skills to collaborate with others

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Certifications specializing in fitness/wellness and behavior change
  • Previous occupational health or worker's compensation experience
