Overview

Our Nuclear Services Group is seeking a Geographer / Socioeconomist to join the team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to perform and lead environmental analyses in support of nuclear environmental licensing projects nationwide. This role can be based in the following locations:

  • Kennesaw, GA (Suburb of Atlanta)
  • Oklahoma City, OK
  • Ft Worth, TX

Responsibilities

Imagine a day where your analysis shapes how communities grow and adapt. You turn complex demographic and economic data into clear insights, guide regulatory compliance, and help assess the real-world impact of new projects.

  • Demographic & Socioeconomic Analysis: Experience using US Census Bureau, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and state/local datasets and comprehensive plans to describe demographic and socioeconomic characteristics. Conduct transient population surveys, agency consultations, and evaluate public socioeconomic and demographic data. Develop population projections using US Census Bureau, state, and local data. Conduct socioeconomic analyses, including impact analyses associated with in-migrating construction and operational workforces
  • Regulatory Compliance & Permitting: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; help prepare permit applications and environmental impact assessments as required. Areas of focus in NEPA Compliance, Geographic Information System (GIS), and Regulatory Compliance
  • Public Engagement & Communication: Develop public engagement and communication plans. Communicate complex scientific concepts to colleagues, clients, and regulatory agencies in a clear and understandable manner
  • Reporting & Presentation: Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations summarizing findings from demographic and socioeconomic studies and investigations #LI-MB1

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or similar technical field
  • Must have a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in demographic and socioeconomic principles to include characterization, assessments, and surveys
  • Must be proficientin NEPA compliance, GIS and Regulatory Compliance
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel to build calculations and Microsoft Word to develop environmental report content
  • Experience with public engagement, surveys and public data collection
  • Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and "people" skills
  • Ability to travel between 5%-10% of the time; duration of travel may vary depending on client needs, ranging from a few days to a week

When salary range is listed it reflects typical compensation for this role based on level and location. Actual pay depends on experience, skills, and education.
