We are actively looking for a CAD Technician to join our Abu Dhabi office. As part of the CAD Group, the CAD Technician supports multidisciplinary engineering teams across maritime, coastal, civil, and structural projects throughout the Middle East. The CAD Technician will produce highquality 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for design, planning, permitting, tendering, and construction documentation. Our ideal candidate is detailoriented, technically strong, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within project teams.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Transform initial rough designs, sketches, and markups into complete working drawings
  • Prepare detailed drawings for maritime and waterfront structures, including cargo terminals, breakwaters, quay walls, revetments, marinas, jetties, bulkheads, and shoreline construction
  • Support preparation of tender, IFC, and asbuilt drawing packages in accordance with project standards
  • Develop CAD drawings for grading, site development, utilities layouts, structural details, dredging layouts, and earthworks
  • Compute excavation and fill volumes for dredging and earthmoving projects
  • Review drawings to ensure compliance with Moffatt & Nichol CAD standards, client-specific requirements, and regional authority guidelines (Abu Dhabi/UAE/GCC)
  • Manage file organization including layers, XRefs, sheet sets, and drawing registers
  • Support designers and senior technicians with multi-disciplinary drawing packages
  • Assist with 3D visualisations, concept graphics, and model coordination where needed
  • Participate in internal quality reviews throughout design stages

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of professional CAD drafting experience in an engineering consultancy environment
  • Experience in ports, maritime, coastal, structural, or civil infrastructure design highly preferred
  • Strong working proficiency in AutoCAD (required) and Civil 3D (required)
  • Additional skills: MicroStation, Revit, ArcGIS, 3ds Max, Navisworks
  • Knowledge of civil site development, structural detailing, engineering principles, and CAD standards
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Proven ability to work in dynamic, multi-project environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel preferred)
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Working conditions:

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
