What You'll Do Day-To-Day

The Manager, Accounting Operations & Finance Systems leads core accounting operations including general ledger, fixed assets, and the monthly close process, while serving as Finance functional owner for enterprise financial systems, including SAP.

This role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of financial data used for reporting and decision-making across the organization. The position partners closely with Finance leadership, IT, and operational stakeholders to optimize financial processes, strengthen accounting governance, and enhance the effectiveness of financial systems.

The Manager also plays a critical role in governing the finance functionality of SAP, ensuring the system supports accounting operations, reporting requirements, and internal controls. Working closely with IT/system specialists, the role serves as a key Finance leader supporting the organization's transition to SAP S/4HANA, guiding finance process design, testing, and adoption of the future-state system.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

    Lead and oversee general ledger accounting processes, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with accounting policies (IFRS).
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to established timelines.
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization policies, asset lifecycle management, depreciation, and capital project accounting.
  • Ensure timely completion and review of balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and accounting governance over financial transactions and reporting processes.

Finance Systems Leadership (SAP Functional Ownership)

  • Serve as the Finance functional owner for SAP financial modules, ensuring the system effectively supports accounting processes and financial reporting.
  • Act as the primary business liaison between Finance and IT for financial systems.
  • Define business requirements for system enhancements, process improvements, and reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure system configuration and functionality align with accounting policies, operational needs, and internal control requirements.
  • Provide functional expertise in SAP Finance modules including General Ledger, Asset Accounting, and related financial processes.
  • Partner with system administrators and IT teams responsible for technical administration, infrastructure, and security.

SAP S/4HANA Transformation

  • Serve as a key Finance leader in the organization's transition to SAP S/4HANA.
  • Partner with IT, project leadership, and finance stakeholders to define future-state finance processes and system requirements.
  • Lead finance participation in workshops, testing, validation, and user acceptance testing.
  • Ensure accounting processes and controls are effectively integrated into the future-state S/4HANA environment.
  • Support change management and training efforts for finance users.
  • Help drive adoption of improved finance capabilities enabled through the S/4HANA platform.

Financial Reporting Support

  • Support the preparation and delivery of routine and ad hoc financial reports for management and business units.
  • Ensure reporting outputs are supported by accurate and reliable accounting data.
  • Provide accounting insight and explanations to support financial analysis and business decision-making.
  • Assist in maintaining reporting consistency across financial reporting tools and systems.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop a team responsible for accounting operations and financial systems support.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
  • Manage staffing decisions including hiring, performance management, and employee development.
  • Establish priorities and ensure effective coordination of team responsibilities.

Governance, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audit activities.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, system utilization, and operational efficiency.
  • Promote standardization, automation, and continuous improvement across finance processes.


What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial operations, or financial systems.
  • Strong experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
  • Advanced experience with SAP Finance modules required.
  • Experience participating in ERP implementations or major system upgrades (S/4HANA preferred).
  • Prior team leadership or people management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, fixed asset accounting, and financial controls.
  • Advanced understanding of SAP Finance functionality and finance process integration.
  • Experience translating business requirements into system solutions.
  • Ability to support ERP transformation initiatives and system implementation projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across Finance, IT, and operational stakeholders.


Total Rewards Package

Total Rewards Package

  • Salary: $115,000-$156,000 and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
