Position Summary

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Support quality system by performing product audit, process audits, gauge studies, problem solving techniques, product disposition and other analytical methods applicable to related requirements and specifications.

ESSENTIAL QUALITY TECHNICIAN I FUNCTIONS:



  1. Assist in ISO Internal Audits Procedures and Process Audit.


  1. Audit processes and work areas for conformance to appropriate instructions, materials, and identification.


  1. Operate electronic data collecting equipment along with a network-based computer system.


  1. Verify accuracy of gages and measuring instruments, such as calipers, plug gages, dial indicators, and pressure gages using master gages and standards.



  1. Conduct Gage R&R


  1. Accurately read gages, prints, part identification, specifications, and procedures.


  1. Actively participate in Parker's "Lean" initiatives.


  1. Ability to work overtime, including short-notice overtime and weekend coverage to meet business needs.


  1. Perform other duties as assigned.


  1. Assist with data and product/process information and analysis.


  1. Assist with PPAP data collection and documentation


  1. Detect and report problems or unusual conditions to manager/supervisor.


  1. Perform line inspections when necessary


  1. Maintain departmental records.


  1. Document nonconforming goods through internal quality system and communicate the non-conformances to the appropriate party.


  1. Assist in PFMEAs, control plans and process improvements.


  1. Perform standard test and/or preliminary evaluation programs for product compliance as well as root cause analysis on samples of routine products and defective products.


  1. Perform product inspection and testing as required per appropriate specification or standard.


  1. Conduct process capability studies


  1. Obtain, evaluate, and document testing requirements on designated raw materials and finished goods.


  1. Perform Receiving Audits in accordance with applicable procedures, standards and instructions


  1. Generate inspection reports, make dispositions, and maintain database.


  1. Perform containment procedures and maintain hold area.


  1. Attend special training classes as necessary to maintain certifications and improve skill sets



  1. Train others in Quality related skills and procedures.



DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  1. Coordinate ISO Internal Audits Procedures and Process Audits.


  1. Update ISO procedures, work instructions and standard works with direction from QA Engineer / Manager.


  1. Assist in the analysis of customer problems and lead/ participate in problem solving meetings.


  1. May initiate appropriate corrective action to resolve quality problems, of internal or external sources, with direction from QA Engineer / Manager


  1. Setup, maintain and report on SPC programs.


  1. Maintain calibration records and service/control gage inventory.


  1. Design Gage R&R and conduct analysis


  1. Good written and verbal communication skills with ability to present in front of various group sizes and back grounds.


  1. Coordinate PPAP completion


  1. Conduct process capability studies and analyze results.


  1. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.


  1. Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.


  1. Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.


Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:





Education/Experience:



  • Two (2) years' experience in quality or inspection (recommended).

  • Experience or familiarity with production process

  • APQP Training (recommended)

  • ASQC Certification (recommended)




Preferred Skills/Qualifications:



  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Basic knowledge and use of hand tools

  • Sound decision making skills

  • Good math, reading, writing skills

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

  • Mental and visual acuity for production of quality product

  • Strong trouble shooting skills



Skills/Competencies:



  • Basic computer skills - Microsoft Office package, Minitab, QSI programs

  • Able to demonstrate 12th grade equivalence in math and reading comprehension.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Report directly to Plant Quality Manager/Engineer

  • Physical hazards due to lifting of product assemblies and tools

  • Fumes, dust, oils

  • Extended periods of standing

  • High noise level from production equipment
