Job Description
The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily inspection of incoming materials and packaging for Food Safety and Quality Assurance. The goal is to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and company standards. This role will support management of internal quality systems and collaborates cross-functionally to drive product quality from suppliers. The Receiving Supervisor will play a key role in audit readiness, and supplier corrective action follow up. This position also serves as a backup for record reviewers, ensuring timely and accurate documentation review.


Job Duties:


  • Responsible for filing paperwork for all shipments and inspections.
  • Oversee daily inspections, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Review of COA and other supporting records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Works cross functionally to identify process improvements, manufacturing non-conformance related to raw materials, and to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Research orders and communicates/coordinates the inventory/hold status and availability.
  • Frequent communication with manufacturing and warehouse management regarding non-conforming products (i.e., ballooning, damaged products, etc.)
  • Maintain and update FSQA documentation, including SOPs, and training materials.
  • Maintain in-house databases for lot reporting etc.
  • Create and maintain COAs (Certificates of Analysis)
  • Retrieve, prepare and mail samples for testing by third party laboratory.
  • Sample, evaluate, and document incoming materials (ingredients, packaging, labels) and report concerns/non-conformances.
  • Collect samples which may include but are not limited to raw materials, finished products, and ingredients
  • Assist in the evaluation and disposition of all samples. Including logging samples and various lab duties associated with sample evaluation.
  • Maintain & log of all inspections and share weekly report of findings. Develop and report external logistics performance results.
  • Follows all policies, procedures, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Determine disposition of certain returned goods.
  • Facilitate internal audits and support external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Monitor and report on key quality metrics; identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, sanitation, and R&D teams to resolve quality and safety issues.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to FSQA staff.
  • Ensure compliance with FSMA, GFSI, GMPs, allergen control, and other applicable standards.
  • Support product trials, process validations, and new product launches from a quality perspective.
  • Promote a culture of food safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualification
Qualifications:


  • 2+ years of experience in food manufacturing quality assurance, including supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, FSMA, GFSI, GMPs, and other food safety regulations.
  • Experience with record review, audit preparation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and drive results.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
