What to Expect

Tesla is revolutionizing the world's energy and transportation systems throughcutting-edgeinfrastructure. As a Construction Performance & Metrics Engineer (Benchmarking), you will play a pivotal role inestablishing, validating, andoptimizingconstruction performance standards across infrastructure projects. You will define measurable benchmarks for construction efficiency, quantities, hours, andcosts-enabling data-driven decision-making, continuous improvement, and scalability across Tesla's rapidly expanding footprint.

This role sits at the intersection ofconstruction/industrial, data analytics, and process engineering. You will work closely with project managers,designengineers,self-perform, and cross-functional teams to standardize performance metrics, identifyinefficiencies, and drivecost savingsin construction execution.

What You'll Do
  • Define and Implement Construction Benchmarks:Establishkey quantityinput and outputmetricsfor construction phases (e.g.,predevelopment, development, active, closeout) across different project types (Gigafactories, Megapack sites, Supercharger hubs)
  • Data Collection & Validation: Design and deploy systems to collect real-time construction data (labor hours, material, scheduleof values, quantities, unitrates) from field teams and integrated project management tools
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting: Analyze construction performance data usingAImodelsanddatavisualization tools. Generate actionable insights and reports for leadership, highlighting trends, outliers, andimprovementopportunities
  • Benchmark Calibration: Continuously refine benchmarks based on project outcomes, technological advancements (e.g., modular construction, robotics), and regional variables (labor markets, supply chains, regulations)
  • Cross-Project Benchmarking: Compare performance across multiple sites and projects toidentifybest practices and systemic inefficiencies. Promote knowledge sharing and standardization
  • Collaborate with Engineering & Operations: Partner with design, procurement, and operations teams to align construction benchmarks with design intent, manufacturing requirements, and long-term asset performance
  • Support Digital Tools Development: Work with software engineers to integrate benchmarking logic into Tesla's internal construction management platforms (e.g.,Projectmanagement, HoursTracking, BIM tools)
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Lead pilot initiatives to test new construction methods or technologies, measuring their impact against established benchmarks

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degreein Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, ora relatedtechnical field, or the equivalent in experience
  • 5+ years in construction engineering, project controls, or performance benchmarking within large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects (preferably in manufacturing, energy, or heavy civil)
  • Proficiencyin data analysis (Python, SQL, Excel Advanced), statistical modeling, anddatavisualization (Power BI)
  • Experience withcontractual constructionrequirements (Schedule of Values,T&M, Lum Sump)
  • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and digital twin concepts is a plus
  • Proventrack recordinestablishingperformance metrics or KPIs in construction environments
  • Ability to distill complex field data into clear, actionable insights
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to present findings to technical and executive audiences
  • Experience working in high-speed, high-precision manufacturing or energy infrastructure environments (e.g.,Energy,Cell Manufacturing, Refineries) is a plus
