About This Role

The interlibrary services associate is responsible for processing day-to-day borrowing, document delivery and lending requests. This full-time position reports to the library resource coordinator and will supervise one to two student employees. To be successful in this position, you must be able to adapt to change, demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills, and be able to establish and maintain productive working relationships in an environment where flexibility and collaboration are essential.

Responsibilities
* Monitor and process incoming borrowing and lending requests.
* Communicate directly with patrons and other libraries to help resolve difficult situations and ensure high-quality customer service and satisfaction.
* Monitor ILL email accounts and respond to inquiries on the same day.
* Operate scanning equipment and edit PDFs as needed.
* Collaborate with colleagues in the library user services department as needed to ensure good customer service.
* Supervise student employees, includes hiring, orientation, training and evaluation.
* Coordinate with K-State's central mail to ship materials to non-U.S. libraries.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Three years of relevant experience



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Understanding of resource sharing
  • Experience with an integrated library system
  • Experience providing reference services
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of standard computer office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Access)
  • Strong customer service orientation
