Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Software Architect to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard.

Key Responsibilities

    Translate business and operational requirements into solution architectures (application, data, integration, analytics).
  • Define and enforce architectural patterns, standards, design principles, and reusable components.
  • Lead architecture/design reviews, validate system designs for compliance with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Advise on technology selection, tradeoffs, scalability, resiliency, and cost/benefit analyses.
  • Define data flows, storage strategies, APIs, and analytics enablement architectures to support data-driven operations.
  • Produce architecture artifacts: diagrams, CAD/DoDAF views as applicable, design docs, interface contracts, and standards.
  • Mentor engineering teams, provide guidance on implementation best practices, and drive technical risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate with enterprise architects, security, DevSecOps, data, and program teams to ensure integration and alignment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
  • Clearance: TS/SCI (active)
  • Education / Training / Certification: Candidate must meet ONE:
    • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering; OR
    • Completion of DoD/Military Enterprise Architect (Advanced) Playlist; OR
    • Relevant advanced certifications (see list below).
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years software architecture/engineering experience with at least 5 years in senior architecture roles supporting enterprise/mission systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in microservices/monolith design, API/Integration patterns, cloud-native architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP), data architectures, CI/CD/DevSecOps, and secure design practices.
  • Strong skills in architecture documentation, design tradeoff analysis, and senior-leader technical briefings.

Acceptable Certifications (one or more preferred)

  • CISSO, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, GCIA, GCLD, GCSA, GICSP
  • Other expert certs desirable: CASP+, AWS/Azure/GCP Professional, TOGAF

Desired / Preferred

  • Prior DoD/ARNG/mission systems or classified environment experience
  • Experience with DoDAF/enterprise architecture toolsets and integration with EA repositories
  • Proven track record delivering architecture roadmaps, reference implementations, and reusable components

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
