General Summary: With little to no supervision, plan material availability in synchronization with the final assembly build schedule. Plans and monitors the flow of materials from the receipt of demand through the manufacturing process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plans production work orders based on MRP requirements and customers specifications
- Reviews and releases work orders to production
- Plans and reschedules open orders to support changes in MRP demand and availability of capacity
- Updates and maintains status reports
- Identifies purchasing and internal shortages and follows up with the responsible buyer or planner
- Proactively communicates foreseeable issues to next level planners and/or customer service
- Investigates and resolves issues related to past due shipments/work orders and material shortages
- Ensures the integrity of the MRP database and inventory accuracy per the materials weekly task schedule
- Initiates and participates in lean initiatives including but not limited to: kanban, one-piece flow, and inventory reduction
- Participation in disposition of non-conforming parts, taking into consideration cost and delivery impact
- Makes and implements recommendations to improve cadence, lower aggregate inventory levels, and/or reduce overall costs.
- Maintains planning factors for MRP including but not limited to: safety stock, lead-time, order multipliers, minimum order quantity
- Updates work order bills of operations and bills of materials as well as coordinating changes to master bills of operations and bills of materials with M.E. and engineering when necessary
- Actively participates in Change Control Board and the Engineering Change Request process, having signature authority for material planning
- Coordinates with manufacturing, purchasing, quality, engineering, sales, and other support teams to alleviate constraints to on-time delivery.
- May be required to train or assist all levels of planners.
- May assist or fill in for department manager
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Excels in the practical application of MRP logic, scheduling logic, order policies and modifiers, capacity planning, input/output control, bills of material, bills of operations, and product family manufacturing strategies.
- High level understanding of configuration management
- Must be a team player with exceptional judgment and analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as, strong interpersonal skills.
- Must utilize sound independent judgment when committing company resources
- The ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers/suppliers as well as handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment with a strong eye for detail.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years Material Control or related experience.
- MRP knowledge.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- APICS Certification preferred (CPIM).
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Pay Range
Pay Compensation Range for this non -exempt: $38.46 per hour -$55.26 per hour
Salary offered will depend on education, training, specific skills, years of experience and other relevant factors.
