Covia is looking for a dynamic Utility Operator who will have a positive impact on our team at our Junction City, GA location. The Shift Utility Operator is accountable to ensure the safe and productive operation of the plant and must possess aptitude for multiple disciplines and be proficient in the operation of equipment associated with all functional areas within the plant. The Utility Operator also backfills all operator positions within the plant for planned and unplanned absences and assists the maintenance crew as required.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:



  • Comply with all safety and health practices and policies for the site
  • Operating Skid Steer / Track Mobile / Heavy equipment
  • Load Railcars and Trucks
  • Operate Process Equipment
  • Record all necessary data for Quality, Environmental and Safety as required by Company procedures and policies
  • General maintenance of plant grounds and equipment
  • Use of proper PPE, Safe Chemical handling and storage
  • General clean-up
  • Perform other duties as assigned



The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Basic computer skills (email, Windows, Office)
  • Ability to climb ladders and rail cars
  • Experience operating equipment
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts if necessary or stay over a shift if needed and is required
