Job Summary: Performs inspection operations on various software/hardware items, using applicable specifications. Witnesses/performs dynamic tests on individual parts and assemblies, making accept/reject decisions. Performs a variety of independent duties to assist in the development of lean manufacturing initiatives, quality inspection procedures, design of inspection test fixtures, selection of test equipment, and training of inspection personnel. Meets with fellow inspectors and engineers to attain a consensus understanding of acceptance criteria for incoming and in-process inspections. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. This role is onsite in Fort Walton Beach, FL Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works closely with Procurement to resolve supplier certification and documentation discrepancies to the Purchase Order.
- Interprets and reviews blueprints, wiring lists, quality standards, manufacturers' catalogs, customer specifications, reference manuals, and purchase order (PO) requirements to determine hardware quality and inspects status of electronic hardware, parts and assemblies for acceptance.
- Assists in resolving problems by meeting with and or interfacing with Purchasing, Engineering, Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering on clarifying issues.
- Accepts/rejects hardware accordingly, and prepare the associated documentation by completing the Receiving Report, Shop Traveler and/or issuing Non-Conformance (NC) for unacceptable hardware.
- Performs inspection operations by verifying accuracy and completeness of associated software, and performs validation of software by witness of test equipment.
- Inspects hardware by performing in-process, final inspection using the contractually applicable specifications and quality assurance standards.
- Witnesses tests, as required, or performs actual dynamic tests on individual items (electronic devices) or assemblies.
- Witnesses or monitors environmental testing.
- Performs work in receiving, in-process, final, source inspection, shipping inspection and engineering areas as required.
- Performs preliminary reviews of non-conforming hardware for disposition.
- Coordinates and presents accepted items to customer representatives.
- Uses equipment such as microscopes, multimeters, calipers, micrometers and other inspection equipment.
- Assists in preparation of cost proposals and task estimates as assigned.
- Initiates procedures for special inspection equipment and formulate inspection aids as directed.
- Performs data review and audits.
- Performs diversified complex tasks at field locations.
- Performs Shipping Inspection assistance to resolve issues associated to contract and sales order requirements.
- Provides direction and guidance to Receiving and Shipping Inspection on acceptance criteria to engineering requirements.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High school diploma, or equivalent, and a minimum of four years of experience in quality control disciplines.
- Hands-on industry experience in mechanical and electrical inspections and work with Quality Management Systems is desirable.
- Must be knowledgeable of Electrical Static Discharge (ESD, such EIA 625,) for use of handling electronic assemblies and components.
- Must be able to read, interpret and apply electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, quality standards and reference manuals.
- Proficient in the use and application of quality control test methods and equipment.
- Must be proficient in solder inspection to industry standards, such as IPC 610.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal directions.
- Must be able to read and interpret technical material.
- Must be able to climb stairs, walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have ability to work with a personal computer for timekeeping data input and data input for Quality Assurance metrics.
- Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills to communicate with department and interdepartmental areas.
- Travel, domestic and international, may be required, in order to attain product knowledge and conformance to standards to help expedite acceptance of product needed to support manufacturing and production requirements.
- Must be eligible for a DOD Security Clearance
Cubic Pay Range: $30.41 - $38.00 + benefits.
The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
