Overview

E2 is looking for a Drafting Technician to join our team in our San Diego area to support one of the largest electric utility clients. The successful candidate will be using AutoCAD or equivalent software to modify or develop drawings including one lines, three lines, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, layout and detail drawings. Also, support completing bill of material lists, project drawing management and provide support to engineers/designers. The position will work under the direction of a Supervisor and will report directly to the Engineering Manager or Supervisor.



Responsibilities

    Utilize 2D or 3D Computer Aided Design software to create drawings including one lines, three lines, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, layout and detail drawings.
  • Utilize engineering sketches, specifications and supporting documents in the designing, detailing, documenting, and verifying of electrical parts, subassemblies, assemblies or system configurations.
  • Prepare detailed drawings of parts and assemblies from layouts, designs and working drawings including necessary projections, sectional views and standard specifications.
  • Interpret verbal or written direction to initiate a preliminary design.
  • Check and verify the accuracy of drawings prepared by others.
  • Prepare bills of material (BOM) and specifications when drawings are complete. Revise drawings and BOM consistent with engineering changes.
  • Implement revisions and change control per company standards at the direction of senior level designers and engineers.
  • Check field red-lined drawings and generate accurate as-built drawings as needed.
  • Performs required document management functions including tracking, receiving, storing, retrieving, copying/scanning of project documents.
  • Create new project folders and submit project documents to clients.
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relative project information to project design team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working in consulting engineering firm or equivalent experience in similar role.
  • Proficient in ACAD and/or other similar software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Strong understanding of timekeeping and working in team environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Understands project workflows.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred
  • Associate degree or higher preferred but not required.
  • Drafting/Design certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a consulting engineering firm environment.

Wage Data Per State Requirements

The salary for the position will be $62,400 - $72,800 depending on skill set and experience.
