Summary The Patterns/Tracer Operator plays a critical role in the lens manufacturing process by operating specialized tracing equipment to capture precise frame and lens measurements. This position is essential to the lens manufacturing workflow, as the patterns created directly influence the final fit and quality of prescription lenses. The role requires technical precision and attention to detail to ensure accurate lens production and customer satisfaction. Primary Responsibilities * Operate pattern tracing machines to capture frame specifications and lens shapes * Inspect frames for proper shape and trace all frame types (hide a bevel, grooved, drilled) * Modify frame shapes and process paper tracings as needed * Remove lenses from frames and sort components appropriately * Calibrate tracing equipment and log machine readings daily * Generate accurate plastic patterns for lens manufacturing * Maintain organized workstation and notify supervisor of any equipment issues * Ensure quality standards are met throughout the tracing process Key Skills Required * Technical proficiency with tracing equipment and machinery, including calibration procedures * Strong attention to detail and precision in measurements and quality assessment * Understanding of various eyewear frame types (hide a bevel, grooved, drilled) and construction * Ability to work with various frame styles, materials, and paper tracings * Quality control mindset with ability to identify frame defects and irregularities * Organizational skills for parts sorting and workstation maintenance * Communication skills for reporting issues and machine performance to supervisors * Data logging and record-keeping abilities Education Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Physical Requirements * Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods * Frequent reaching, bending, and occasional sitting * Lift up to 25 pounds regularly * Close vision and focus adjustment abilities required
