Surgical Technologist II

Ambulatory Surgery Centeris seeking aPRNSurgical Technologist II for the ASC OR Team. Under the direction of a registered professional nurse assists with surgical procedures; provision of therapeutic, preventative and emergency patient care duties; and preparation, operation and maintenance of routine and complex equipment, instruments and supplies.

• Cleans, checks, orders and re-supplies surgical area and support/storage areas.
• Provides proper care and handling of equipment, instruments, and supplies
• Prepares surgical area for patient care and anticipates the needs of the surgical team.
• Provides therapeutic, preventative and emergency patient care in an operating room setting.
• Drapes the pateint and equipment appropriate to surgical procedure.
• Recognizes and communicates breaks in aseptic technique.
• Documents and communicates creation of sterile field.
• Prepares and passes sutures to the surgeon.
• Positions patient for surgery and to facilitate breathing, initiating corrective action for airway obstruction.
• Performs sponge, sharps, and instrument counts.

Schedule: PRN - Primarily Monday through Friday, 4, 8, 10 or 12-hour shifts. Off shifts may be available if desired. Minimum of 24 hours per month.

Location: Operating rooms at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics

  Minimum Eligibility Requirements for Surgical Technologist II

  
  

• Satisfactory completion of a vocational or military course in surgical technology, or certification as a Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA and NCCT).
• Two years' experience as a Surgical Technologist
