The Strategic Marketing Manager is responsible for synthesizing market, customer, and competitive data into actionable insights that shape product positioning, customer engagement, go-to-market strategies, and long-term business growth. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of analytical rigor, deep market and customer understanding, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with sales, communications including digital marketing and creative, operations, finance, and executive leadership to drive informed, revenue-focused decisions. Responsibilities of Position:
- Analyze market size, growth trends, lifecycle stage, and overall market dynamics
- Segment markets by geography, customer type, industry, or line of business
- Identify barriers to entry, asset intensity, and competitive dynamics
- Study and evaluate pricing structures and regional pricing variability
- Identify, define, and refine target audiences and buyer personas
- Collaborate with Corporate Communications, including the digital marketing and creative teams, to identify and implement tactics for specific audiences and actions
- Work with Corporate Communications to develop and execute tactics to enhance customer acquisition, customer experience and customer satisfaction
- Understand articulated and unarticulated customer needs, motivations, buying behaviors, and purchasing frequency
- Assess purchasing channels (direct, indirect, digital) and key decision-making influences
- Track and analyze customer sentiment, brand perception, and satisfaction metrics
- Research and map direct and indirect competitors
- Analyze competitor market share, positioning, strengths, and weaknesses
- Monitor new market entrants, emerging competitors, and disruptive business models
- Benchmark current products, services, and feature sets against competitors
- Monitor pricing strategies and innovation trends across the industry
- Partner with sales and operations to identify market-driven product enhancements
- Develop and deploy insight-based tools, resources, and messaging to enable the sales organization and accelerate market share growth
- Track and interpret economic, regulatory, technological, and social/cultural trends impacting the business
- Report on industry dynamics that influence market opportunity, customer behavior, or operational risk
- Create dashboards, market maps, and trend analyses for senior and regional leadership
- Support marketing, sales, and operations teams with data-driven insights and positioning strategies
- Present findings through clear storytelling, compelling visualizations, and practical tools that assist the sales organization in closing and winning business
- Perform other duties as assigned

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence decisions through data
- Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, product, finance, and executive teams
- Curious and proactive mindset with a strong desire to understand the "why" behind market behaviors and trends
- Commercially minded with the ability to translate insights into revenue-driving strategies
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and bringing structure to complex, evolving challenges
Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, or a related field
- 8-10 years of experience in waste and recycling sales or marketing strategy, business intelligence, or market research
- Experience with CRM systems, marketing automation, and digital marketing platforms preferred
Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:
- Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10 lbs
- Frequently sitting
- Occasionally standing/walking
Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:
- Ability to travel between offices, as required
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Valid driver's license (if applicable)
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
- Must be able to read and speak the English language
