The Division of Academic & Student Affairs (DASA) is where students discover connections and community. The University College at NC State serves as an incubator for interdisciplinary programs. It is home to a variety of academic units and programs that are uniquely situated in the university structure to engage every undergraduate student. UC faculty and staff, often through collaboration with a broad range of campus partners, provide innovative experiential learning opportunities, centralized curricular and cross-curricular programs, academic support, and other resources that enhance the student learning experience. Timely degree completion and accomplishment of academic and career goals are fostered through interdisciplinary academic programs, academic planning and support, continuous faculty and staff development, and high-impact educational practices. University College is home to two departments, one major, fifteen minors and two certificate programs. Many of the minors are interdisciplinary and represent one of the reasons for creating University College. Courses within University College are taken by every undergraduate student at NC State.
Primary Purpose of Position:
Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Dean of University College, the Program Associate will provide expert curricular coordination, analysis, and support to the programs and departments of University College. The incumbent will follow best practices and established, published processes for both college and university levels to maintain a high level of integrity in the operation of these duties.

University College Curriculum Committee


  • Coordinate the undergraduate academic course and curriculum approval functions for the University College Courses and Curriculum Committee, including generating agendas and minutes, and supporting the Chair of the committee and its members through information and organization.
  • Review curricular actions coming to the College for compliance with college and university best practices and requirements
  • Provide feedback from curricular action review and from committee discussion to initiators
  • Generate reports and note patterns in offerings and review
  • Maintain the University College Courses and Curriculum Committee website


University College Academic Programs

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for University College regarding college-level curricular processes, including, but not limited to, course scheduling, graduation clearance, engagement with the university course catalog, and the Course Inventory Management (CIM) tool.
    • Act as College Liaison for University College on relevant university and college committees and liaise with other college curriculum committee liaisons as needed

  • Serve as webmaster on the University College website (including the UC-CCC website), including the maintenance and regular update of information.
  • Work with DASA Marketing and Communications on the annual review of University College pages of the University Catalog (catalog.ncsu.edu).
  • Serve as either primary or backup scheduling officer for selected departments and academic programs within University College.

    • Remain up-to-date on scheduling deadlines, training, and best practices
    • Coordinate communication regarding those items with academic programs and departments in University College
    • Liaise with scheduling officers in other colleges to coordinate scheduling and enrollment of course offerings where needed
    • Provide training and organization for scheduling contacts across University College


  • Use systems such as the Student Information System (SIS) and Course Inventory Management (CIM) to propose and update course and academic program changes; assist departments and programs with the same
  • Coordinate student enrollment processes for select academic programs within University College
  • Coordinate graduation clearance processes within University College
  • Serve as Graduation Clearance Officer at the program level for select University College academic programs
  • Serve as Graduation Clearance Officer at the college level for University College academic programs.
  • Coordinate communications between academic programs in University College and campus partners as needed
  • Recommend process improvements as needed and understand academic program purpose, mission, services, and clients.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Associate Dean and the Dean, provide support for ideation and strategic thought for curricular offerings within University College
  • Maintain a college-level database of course syllabi

University College

  • Create data reports for enrollment, academic program participation, outcomes, and conferred degrees in support of University College enrollment, assessment, and development efforts
  • Provide support for faculty teaching awards processes
  • Coordinate and execute the process for Honor Roll recognition for University College students
  • Coordinate and execute recognition processes for University College students related to commencement and graduation
  • Liaise with Registration and Records as the University College Graduation Coordinator
  • Coordinate communications related to verification of graduation (retroactive and verification letters)
  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Associate Dean of University College as needed
