Coordinator, Counseling Center


The University of Illinois at Chicago Counseling Center (UICCC) is recruiting qualified applicants to join our dynamic, diverse, and social-justice oriented staff for a full-time, 12-month position as a Staff Therapist II- Group Coordinator.

UICCC has been serving the University of Illinois at Chicago for more than 35 years, is part of the Division of Student Affairs, and is fully accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services, Inc. UICCC is the main provider of mental health services on campus and provides comprehensive psychological services to eligible students including assessment, individual and group therapy, psychiatry, crisis services, consultation, referral, outreach, and mind-body programming.

UICCC staff includes licensed psychologists, licensed therapists, crisis counselors, a board- certified psychiatrist, and a crisis clinicians. We are deeply committed to the diverse community that we serve and to developing professionals in that service. We are seeking qualified individuals with experience working within diverse populations, experience providing services/supervision in a language other than English, and/or individuals who can otherwise add to the rich diversity of our clinical staff.

Duties:
  • Conduct psychological and career counseling, including assessment, crisis intervention, and case management services for students' personal, social, vocational and/or educational concerns consistent with Center policies and procedures.
  • Perform consultation and refer students and their family members, staff, and faculty, as appropriate for mental health, medically-based, or adjunctive services within the university or the community.
  • Utilize and contribute to research/data collection for the improvement of student functioning, Center's training programs and services.
  • Provide educational/developmental outreach programming for students and university community to improve coping and problem-solving strategies and to contribute to a supportive and enhancing learning environment.
  • Supervise and train unlicensed clinical staff as appropriate to discipline (this may also include pre-doctoral, postdoctoral, and/or social work trainees) with regard to assessment, evaluations, outreach, and group and individual treatment of Counseling Center clients to ensure that service and training objectives are met.
  • Position requires occasional evening hours and weekend duties; NO after-hours on-call responsibilities.
  • Oversight of administrative areas as needed within the Counseling Center, which may include but are not limited to, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), Group Therapies, Mind/Body Services, Peer Support Programs, and Psychoeducation/Outreach.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Licensed in the state of Illinois at the highest level in the mental health field (Psychologist, LCPC, LCSW, or LMFT ONLY). LPC and LSW licenses do NOT meet minimum qualifications and will NOT be considered for employment.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience post-licensure.
  • A minimum of one year of prior administrative experience.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the provision of direct clinical supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work as part of a highly cohesive and interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience with and commitment to working with clients from diverse backgrounds.


Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a university counseling center is strongly preferred.
  • At least two years of clinical experience post-licensure.
  • Previous experience with coordinating specific service areas (i.e., DEIB, Group Therapies, etc.)
  • Experience in the provision of direct clinical supervision for at least three years.
  • Training and experience providing psychological services to graduate, professional, and undergraduate students which includes providing services to persons of color, international students, non-traditional students, veterans, students with disabilities and LGBTQA+ students desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience and facility with an electronic records management system, databases, and other technology to aid in the provision of clinical services and administration.
  • Ability to conduct counseling in a language other than English.

Salary Range/Benefits:

This position eligible for benefits. This includes Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, a Retirement Plan, Paid time Off, and Tuition waivers for employees and dependents. The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $110,000.


We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.
