Job Summary

The Field Operations Supervisor provides first line leadership over Meter Technicians and is accountable for the day-to-day operational performance of an assigned work unit. The role manages daily work execution, safety performance, productivity, quality, and customer service outcomes while operating within established company policies, procedures, and the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Essential Functions

  • Direct and monitor daily Meter Technician activities including meter installation, exchanges, testing, maintenance, and service order execution.
  • Assign work, balance workloads, and monitor productivity and performance metrics.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective action in accordance with company policy and the CBA.
  • Apply the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) when assigning work, managing schedules, approving overtime, and addressing attendance, performance, and discipline.
  • Ensure Meter Technician work assignements and duties align with neogtiated classifications and scope of work.
  • Lead safety tailboards, monthly safety meetings, and field observations; investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate use of mobile workforce systems and proper documentation of customer and meter data.
  • Respond to and resolve customer complaints and operational issues within assigned authority.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service, Dispatch, Market Operations, Metering, T&D Operations, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct field audits, job observations, vehicle inspections, and driver evaluations.
  • Manage timekeeping, attendance, vacation scheduling, and daily coverage
  • Maintain professionalism, fairness, and consistency when addressing labor-related issues in the field.
  • Participate in emergency response, storm restoration, and Emergency Operating Plan (EOP) assignments.
  • Perform additional assignments or projects as directed by management.

Education Description

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional and field experience. (2-Years of direct related experience is equivalent to 1-Year of formal education.)

Experience

  • Typically, five (5) or more years of electric utility field operations experience, including demonstrated leadership or lead responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to operate a motor vehicle in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Able to demonstrate and apply the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer or laptop.
  • Able to view a monitor or computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Able to operate a telephone, photocopier, facsimile machine, calculator, and other office equipment.
  • Able to function successfully in an office environment in an area with limited window access.
  • Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally a/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Able to function successfully in an environment with moderate pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work in an office environment, typically 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday
  • Able to handle emergency situations including physical threats and or post storm emergency operations/restoration demands.

Working Conditions

  • Combination of office and field environment with exposure to varying weather and field conditions.
  • Participation in emergency response, extended hours, and storm restoration activities as required.
