Position Summary
Looking for a Superintendent to support work at the North Anna Power Station. The Superintendent in the nuclear services construction industry is responsible for overseeing and coordinating field operations on nuclear facility construction, maintenance, and upgrade projects. This role ensures that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with strict regulatory standards. The Superintendent manages both union and non-union workforces, fostering collaboration while respecting collective bargaining agreements and labor laws.
Key Responsibilities

  • Project Coordination: Directs daily construction activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and progress monitoring to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Safety Leadership: Enforces rigorous safety protocols and nuclear industry regulations, conducts safety briefings, and ensures all personnel adhere to site-specific procedures.
  • Workforce Management: Supervises union and non-union employees, resolves workforce issues, and ensures compliance with labor agreements, policies, and applicable laws.
  • Quality Control: Verifies that work meets engineering specifications, nuclear standards, and client expectations through regular inspections and documentation.
  • Communication: Serves as the primary point of contact between field crews, project managers, subcontractors, clients, and regulatory authorities.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies and addresses construction challenges, implements solutions, and manages changes to scope, schedule, or workforce requirements.
  • Documentation: Maintains accurate records of project progress, workforce hours, safety incidents, inspections, and compliance reports.
  • Training and Development: Provides guidance, coaching, and training to field personnel, ensuring ongoing improvement and adherence to best practices.
  • Resource Management: Oversees material deliveries, equipment usage, and logistics to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.

Workforce Responsibilities

  1. Ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreements and union work rules.
  2. Coordinates with union representatives to address grievances, resolve disputes, and implement workforce changes.
  3. Schedules and manages union labor in accordance with contract requirements.
  4. Resolves conflicts and ensures equitable distribution of tasks.
  5. Maintains compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in construction supervision, with at least 3 years in the nuclear sector.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nuclear safety regulations, quality assurance, and industry standards.
  • Experience managing both union and non-union workforces.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Proficient in project management software and reporting tools.
  • Certified in OSHA 30, Nuclear Safety, or equivalent (preferred).
  • Proficient in piping drawings

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed on active nuclear construction sites, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols.
  • May involve extended hours, weekend work, and on-call responsibilities.
  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, climbing, and exposure to weather and hazardous environments.
