The Abbott Lab at the University of Virginia invites applications for a full-time Lab Specialist to perform and assist with lab management, colony management and histology. The successful candidate must be motivated and detail-oriented and possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and demonstrate the ability to articulate information to investigators and other research team members. Hiringlevel will be dependent on experience. Our laboratory investigates how the brain integrates sensory feedback to control autonomic responses that maintain cardiorespiratory homeostasis, as well as the cross-talk between cardiorespiratory function and affective state. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals considering graduate studies or long-term research careers in neuroscience and medicine. The successful candidate will also be expected to:

Physical Demands: This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and otherbenchworkand animal procedures requiring fine finger manipulation. This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
