Software Engineer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Software Engineer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This role involves consulting on complex software engineering initiatives within a large-scale enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain Java Spring Boot microservices and Angular-based UI components, deploying applications on OpenShift. This position requires collaboration with cross-cultural and geographically dispersed teams, utilizing Agile methodologies and AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot.

Responsibilities:

• Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Software Engineering
• Design, develop, and maintain Java Spring Boot microservices
• Develop and enhance Angular-based UI components
• Work with Oracle for data persistence
• Deploy and support applications on OpenShift
• Use GitHub Copilot and AI tools for faster and higher-quality development
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architectural decisions
• Collaborate with UI, QA, DevOps, and product teams
• Ensure application performance, security, and scalability

Requirements:

• 6+ years of overall IT experience
• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience
• 4+ years of hands-on Java & Spring Boot development
• Strong hands-on experience in Java (Java 8 or above) and J2EE concepts (Servlets, JSP, JDBC, REST)
• Expertise in Spring Boot (RESTful API development, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA)
• Experience building and supporting microservices architecture
• 2+ years of Angular Full Stack development (v8+), including components, services, and routing
• Strong experience with Oracle Database, including SQL, PL/SQL, performance tuning, and data modeling
• Working knowledge of OpenShift for containerized application deployment
• Practical experience using GitHub Copilot for code generation, refactoring, and unit test creation
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
• Able to work effectively with cross-cultural and geographically dispersed teams

Desired skills:

• Knowledge of CIB, CB, or experience with OpenText Documentum
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of Spring Security, OAuth2, JWT
• Exposure to public cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
• Experience with JUnit, Mockito for unit testing
• Familiarity with Agile / Scrum methodologies
• Knowledge of logging and monitoring tools (Splunk, ELK, Prometheus)
• Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol)

Pay range: $59.53 - $67.53 per hour
