Transportation Engineering Technician I

Recruitment: The State Highway Administration's (SHA) is currently recruiting for a contractual Transportation Engineering Technician I Mobile Retro-reflectometer Unit (MRU) position. This is an Interview and Hire position that is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below.

This announcement may also be used for future SHA vacancies throughout the state of Maryland.

If you indicated veteran status on your application, you must submit your DD-214 along with the completed DTS-1 (application).

Nature of Work: This position supports pavement-marking data collection by driving the Mobile Retro-reflectometer Unit (MRU), assisting with equipment setup and removal, and helping operate the MRU through a Surface Pro. Responsibilities include uploading data to eGIS, the Asset Data Warehouse (ADW), and the Roads & Highways (R&H) system, as well as entering statewide pavement-marking information into the Pavement Marking Management System. The role also processes District pavement-marking documents and assists in evaluating new tools and methods that improve the efficiency, accuracy, and safety of pavement-marking data collection.

Duties may necessitate occasional travel across the state to verify the condition of pavement markings on an as required basis throughout the year, both daytime and nighttime.

In addition, this position is required to cross function with other teams within Structural Materials & Pavement Markings Division as needed.

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:
None.


Licenses & Certifications

Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland. All applicants must list their license number and expiration date on the application.
