These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations. |
| Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Security Officer for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). The primary purpose of the Security Officer position is to be responsible for providing assistance and protection to persons and property in and about Rutgers owned or leased buildings, grounds and parking areas, while under the direct supervision of the Sergeant/Shift Supervisor.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Maintains orderly conditions and takes measures required to assure observance of University policy in accordance with the Public Safety Department's rules, regulations and general operating procedures.
- Patrols, or is posted at an assigned area of offices, buildings, and grounds including parking areas, and makes the required notification by radio, telephone or other directed methods.
- Prepares and submits a "Daily Activity Log".
- Familiarizes oneself with post duties and responsibilities at each post.
- Directs patients, students, staff members and visitors to destinations and provides desired information in accordance with established procedures.
- Regulates and controls pedestrian ingress and egress at designated locations to ensure safety and a minimum of interference.
- Ensures compliance with the University I.D. Policy. Where applicable, will require identification (preferably photo I.D.) when issuing a visitor pass.
- Maintains order and decorum in the assigned area/post location and ensures areas are kept free from unauthorized persons.
- Escorts or directs unauthorized/disruptive persons from the premises when so required. Assists the staff in the maintenance of order within the premises
