The Opportunity

We are seeking a forward-thinking, positive, and relational Assistant Head of Upper School to join our high school leadership team. The Assistant Head of Upper School will work closely with the Head of Upper School to advance the school's mission, support teachers in professional growth, collaborate with the Dean of Students on student discipline, and foster a vibrant, Christ-centered school culture. This leader will also play a key role in extracurricular programming and serve as a Christian mentor to both students and staff.

What You Will Do

  • Observe classroom instruction and evaluate teacher performance using the NIET (National Institute for Excellence in Teaching) rubric, providing actionable feedback and supporting professional growth.
  • Partner with teachers to provide ongoing coaching, professional development, and support for instructional best practices.
  • Plan, lead, and attend teacher training sessions, ensuring alignment with school mission and academic standards.
  • Work with the Dean of Students to address student discipline matters with fairness, consistency, and, as needed, restorative approaches.
  • Attend and supervise extracurricular events to foster school spirit and positive student engagement.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and staff, modeling a Christ-like attitude and servant leadership.
  • Support a safe, orderly, and inclusive school environment where every student is known and valued.
  • Serve as a visible presence throughout the school day and at key school events.
  • Mentor teachers and students in faith, character, and service, integrating a biblical worldview into daily interactions and decision-making.
  • Contribute to continuous school improvement through data-informed decision-making and innovative thinking.
  • Manage the annual textbook and instructional materials cycle by working with department chairs to forecast needs, align selections with curriculum updates, place publisher orders, and ensure on-time delivery.

What You Bring

  • A deep commitment to Christian mission and the ability to model and mentor faith and character.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's in Educational Leadership or Administration preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional leadership, teacher coaching, and/or professional development.
  • Experience with classroom observation and teacher evaluation, preferably using the NIET rubric or a comparable framework.
  • Strong understanding of student discipline, restorative practices, and positive school culture.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • A positive, forward-thinking attitude with a passion for supporting teachers and students.
  • Experience in supervising extracurricular activities is preferred.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and data-driven school improvement.
