Departmental Overview University Health Services (UHS) serves the campus by providing a comprehensive campus-based health center providing fully accredited primary medical care, counseling and psychological services and innovative health promotion programs for students, faculty and staff. The UHS provides on campus medical and mental health care and coordinates off-campus care through a network of community specialists and hospitals. Departments serving students include general medical, specialty and urgent care clinics, counseling and psychological services, laboratory, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology and health promotion. The UC Berkeley Sports Medicine Program is in addition administered through UHS. This key campus program provides comprehensive primary and specialty medical services and access to other important programs for Division I NCAA Intercollegiate Athletes. Student-facing services are designed to enable students to get the most from their educational experience, minimizing the impact of illness, injury and emotional distress on their academic careers, and supporting health and wellbeing. Position Summary Provides health care to adolescent and adult patients to include assessing and treating a wide variety of conditions, ailments and injuries. Diagnose, manage and treat patients: obtain medical history, conduct physical examinations, order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests, provide treatment, prescribe education and counsel patients on diet, exercise and preventative health care. Refers patients with more serious conditions to other specialists for more complex care or other health care facilities for more intensive care. May act as head of the treatment team, providing consultation and direction to mid-level practitioners and nursing staff. Application Review Date The First Review Date for this job is: 5/15/2026. Responsibilities * Performs procedures associated with area of specialization (for example, surgery, OB/GYN, dermatology, sports medicine, occupational health, psychiatry). * Provides off-site telephone or office-based consultation for patients needing timely specialty evaluation as determined by UHS clinical staff. * Keeps the referring primary care clinician informed of patients' progress through written or verbal communication. * Provides timely office progress notes, surgical reports, and hospital discharge summaries to referring clinicians for UHS patients seen off-site from the Tang Center. * May be called upon to participate in a variety of clinically relevant forums including but not limited to education presentations, attendance at Clinician Practice meetings upon invitation, participation at peer review meetings as needed and participation in selected educational workshops as needed.
