Overview

Microsoft Azure is looking for aProduct Marketing Director - Azure Linux and Open Source to drive growth and adoption ofAzure Linuxand open source workloads on Azure. This role is responsible for defining and delivering a cohesive narrative for running open source workloads on Azure, spanningLinux, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Java, and AI frameworks.

You will work crossfunctionally with product management, engineering, sales, partners, and developer communities to shape market perception, influence adoption, and scale Azure Linux from incubation to mainstream enterprise usage.

This role requires storytelling, executive influence, and deep familiarity with the open source ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Drive growth for Azure Linux
    • Lead product marketing strategy to accelerate adoption and usage of Azure Linux across Azure services and workloads.
    • Translate technical capabilities into clear, differentiated customer value propositions.
    • Demonstrate proven ability to take earlystage or emerging technologies and drive awareness, trust, and adoption at scale.
    • Build customer evidence, proof points, and technical content to support growth.
  • Gotomarket execution
    • Partner with integrated marketing, sales, partners, and developer advocacy teams to execute launches, campaigns, events and field readiness.
  • Open Source Leadership at Microsoft
    • Help shape and elevate Microsoft's leadership position in Open Source
    • Bring together multiple open source investments into a cohesive strategy and narrative that clearly differentiates Microsoft in the market.
    • Establish Azure Linux and open source platforms like Kubernetes as credible, trusted foundations for enterprise and developer workloads across the open source ecosystem.
    • Represent Microsoft credibly within open source communities and foundations such as the Linux Foundation, Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), and related ecosystems.
  • Industry analyst engagement
    • Support and influence industry analyst relationships, includingGartner, IDC, and Forrester, through briefings, narrative development, and competitive positioning.
  • Crossgroup leadership and influence
    • Partner with multiple product and engineering leaders to align on a shared story and gotomarket narrative.
    • Influence without direct authority and bring clarity in complex, ambiguous environments.


Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 4+ years experience in product marketing, product management, or a related role/experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in in product marketing, product management, or a related role/experience OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Working knowledge and experience withopen source ecosystems, including Linux and cloudnative communities such as theLinux FoundationandCloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF).
  • Experience withcompelling narratives and storytellingthat connect technical capabilities to customer and business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience influencingmultiple stakeholders and product leaders at high levels.
  • Experienced with excellent written, verbal, and executivelevel communication skills.


Product Marketing IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
