Responsibilities & Expectations:
  • Identify and assess the training needs of the organization through job analysis, career paths and consultation with managers.
  • Develop individualized and group training programs that address specific business needs.
  • Develop training manuals that target tangible results.
  • Implement effective and purposeful training methods.
  • Effectively manage the training budget.
  • Evaluate organizational performance to ensure that training meets business needs and improves performance.
  • Drive brand values and philosophy through all training and development activities.
  • Effectively communicate with team members, trainers, and management.
  • Create a curriculum to facilitate strategic training based on the organization's goals.
  • Select and manage resources, including working with both internal employees and training vendors to develop and deliver training.
  • Monitor and evaluate training program's effectiveness, success, and ROI periodically and report on them.
  • Manage training budget.
  • Manage the technologies and technical personnel required to develop, manage, and deliver training.
  • Prepare, plan, and teach classes on technical applications, safety, repair, and service of standby generators.
  • Will train TAW/IPS Generator Technicians as well as Kohler distribution / dealer technicians and other technicians as needed.
  • Coordinate the training schedules and create agendas for all participants.
  • Deliver training using relevant training materials such as texts, handouts, class exercises, hands-on-training, and assessment tools.
  • Update training materials and documents as needed.
  • Monitor effectiveness of training by reviewing written evaluations and assessments of employees attending training sessions and make improvements.
  • Provides feedback and recommendations towards participants training goals and training objectives.
  • Keep and report data on completed courses, absences, issues, etc.
  • Must have the ability to travel to our facilities.
  • Adhere to all company policies.
  • Observe all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment (especially eye, ear protection and steel toe shoes/boots, gloves, etc.)
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Report all injuries, near misses and accidents immediately to a supervisor.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • A college degree is preferred, however candidates with experience and training will be considered.
  • Graduation from a Technical school is desired to include generators, diesel, power gen, electric power, relay or substation technology, etc.
  • Prior experience working in a training capacity desired with past technical experience in the power generation industry in a supervisory or lead generator technician role.
  • Prior experience in technical course development.
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft office products
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Critical thinker with innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to create and present training materials.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with unit teams in various levels and manage projects as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Participates in meetings.
